Bizarre moment lengthy police chase comes to an end after young suspects' 'MOM' taps car window and orders thieves out with their hands up

A lengthy police chase came to an unusual end when a woman tapped on the car window and ordered the young suspects to come out with their hands up.

The incident occurred in Los Angeles where two teenagers allegedly stole a vehicle and were driving at speeds of 90mph while being pursued by cops.

Shocking footage shows the moment the woman, believed to be the mother of one of the teens, walks up to the vehicle and encourages them to surrender.

The chase in Lake Balboa lasted at least 10 minutes before the silver car came to a stop after police laid out two spike strips to flatten its tires.

Officers had their weapons drawn and ordered the two suspects to come out with their hands up.

The police chase began on Petit Avenue and Gilmore Street after the teenagers raced away in the stolen grey car.

They continued to speed down streets at high speed but authorities continued in the dangerous pursuit.

Police officers laid down a spike trap to force the vehicle to stop but it was unsuccessful and the suspects continued to race ahead.

The stolen car nearly got into nasty accident as it attempted to merge with traffic.

Authorities managed to put down a second trap which deflated the tires of the stolen vehicle and the teenage boys were forced to come to a stop.

Officers had their weapons drawn and shouted at the suspects to get out of the vehicle.

But in a bizarre twist, a woman walked up to the car and knocked on the window to tell the suspects to surrender.

She told the cops to calm down and gestured in a way to say she knew the teenagers in the car.

The woman then asked the officers to come with her to the car and tried to help pull the driver out.

The suspects slowly exited the car with their hands up before they got down on the floor where they were quickly arrested.

Several YouTube commenters speculated that the woman must be the boys' mother.
