Prime Video's The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power brings to screens for the very first time the heroic legends of the fabled Second Age of Middle-earth's history. This epic drama is set thousands of years before the events of J.R.R. Tolkien's The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, and will take viewers back to an era in which great powers were forged, kingdoms rose to glory and fell to ruin, unlikely heroes were tested, hope hung by the finest of threads, and the greatest villain that ever flowed from Tolkien's pen threatened to cover all the world in darkness. Beginning in a time of relative peace, the series follows an ensemble cast of characters, both familiar and new, as they confront the long-feared re-emergence of evil to Middle-earth. From the darkest depths of the Misty Mountains, to the majestic forests of the elf-capital of Lindon, to the breathtaking island kingdom of Númenor, to the furthest reaches of the map, these kingdoms and characters will carve out legacies that live on long after they are gone.

Carol Midgley The Australian Yet if this can feel like a series almost drunk on its budget and running time, there is still the intimate, twisted dance of Sauron and Celebrimbor (Edwards really is superb here). Sep 20, 2024 Full Review Emma Stefansky The Atlantic The episodes manage to feel both overlong and cramped. So much has been added to pad out the show’s trajectory and provide tonal suspense to an epic that fundamentally doesn’t need it. Sep 13, 2024 Full Review Lili Loofbourow Washington Post This series abounds in radically underexplained mutinies. Aug 29, 2024 Full Review Katie Palmer Daily Express (UK) As a huge Lord of the Rings fan I desperately wanted to enjoy the Rings of Power, but it's a struggle to keep up even for diehard fans. Rated: 3/5 Sep 18, 2024 Full Review Fico Cangiano CineXpress Season 2 hits the ground running & has fun developing main characters even deeper and executing amazing battle sequences. Charlie Vickers as Sauron is a big standout in a darker, meaner & superior season. [Full review in Spanish] Rated: 4/5 Sep 12, 2024 Full Review Sherin Nicole Geek Girl Riot Season 1 of The Rings of Power taught you the game; season 2 is the game playing you. It’s immersive and complex and that’s what makes it epic. Sep 11, 2024 Full Review Read all reviews

Ed F As a fan of the LotR, Season 2 of RoP has completely restored my faith in the showrunners' direction. It feels like a far more faithful adaptation of Tolkien’s lore, particularly from the appendices, than Season 1. The attention to detail is evident, with a deeper focus on the rich histories and cultures of Middle-earth. The pacing is stronger, the character development more compelling, and the show now captures the heart and essence of Tolkien’s world. Visually stunning as always, this season adds greater emotional depth and narrative focus. The storylines feel more purposeful, and the growing tension surrounding Sauron’s rise is handled with skill, building excitement for what’s to come. It's clear the early challenges have been worked out, and the creative team is now delivering something that both newcomers and Tolkien purists can enjoy. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/19/24 Full Review Arcane M Wildly underrated. This action packed fantasy epic series may not live up to its movie predecessors (which would be hard to achieve) but does a great job at being an entertaining fantasy series. While I believe it may have its flaws such as having random side quest plot detours which I couldn’t care less about such as The Stranger and Halflings venturing through the desert and somewhat the Numenor subplot. It absolutely has its strong points which overwhelm the negatives, first of all, it’s is a visually breathtaking and stunning series (maybe because they loaded $750 Million in one season), the script and dialogue are some of the best I’ve seen. I truly believe 58% is the underrating of the decade. While some characters are very much unlikeable and mildly irritating including the main protagonist (quite the problem) the rest of the collection of characters are interesting, sincere and smart. Overall 4.5/5. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 09/19/24 Full Review S B So fun. We struggled with the first season but after watching the first three episodes of season 2, we decided to do a rewatch of season 1 again and really enjoyed it. Loving season 2 and we look forward to it every Thursday. The attention to detail in bringing the different places to life is incredible. If you get away from checking to make sure it exactly lines up with the lore, watch it as a fantasy, and accept that it will err a bit from canon, it’s a great time and compelling. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/19/24 Full Review Chester A I actually really like this season. People who complain about the pacing must have only watched the movies. People who also complain about jumping from subplot to subplot must not realize that in a lot of ways this series is likely to end where LOTR began - with Isildur cutting off Sauron's ring at Mt. Doom. Consequently, all the subplots add some value to this likely plot arc, and their development is important even if it's slow. I was on the fence about season one, but this season has been really enjoyable for me. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/19/24 Full Review Troy C This season is a great improvement. Each episode gets better and better. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 09/19/24 Full Review Audience Member Huge improvement on Season One in all areas apart from the music and some wooden acting. The plot line is clearer and I haven't felt like somebody's agenda is being constantly rammed down my throat to the same degree. I am actually looking forward to episode 7, Episode 6 was a bit of a cliffhanger and it's the first time I actually gave a crap. Good stuff, keep it up!
