Kristen Lopez Culturess The Edge of Seventeen is compared to the work of John Hughes, because it's destined to be a classic teens will look to for solace. Nov 20, 2017 Full Review Anne Cohen Refinery29 Every decade has its cult teen movie. Thirty-two years ago, it was Sixteen Candles. For the '90s, it was Clueless. The early aughts had Mean Girls. Now we have The Edge of Seventeen. Jun 27, 2017 Full Review David Stratton The Australian The Edge of Seventeen, the feature debut from writer Kelly Fremon Craig, stands out above the countless other teenage movies from recent years by virtue of its honesty and realism. Rated: 4/5 Jan 13, 2017 Full Review JD Duran InSession Film The performances are all captivating. Outside of some tonal inconsistencies with the Erwin (Hayden Szeto) character, there’s not much to dislike about The Edge of Seventeen. Rated: A Aug 19, 2024 Full Review Marya E. Gates Cool People Have Feelings, Too. (Substack) What’s so wonderful about this film is that Craig explores all of Nadine’s flaws, insecurities, naiveté, and particularly her self-loathing. In doing so she paints a fully-fleshed out portrait of teen girldom in flux. Feb 13, 2024 Full Review Joe Lipsett Hazel & Katniss & Harry & Starr Podcast A challenging and confronting view of teendom, anchored by an astounding performance by Hailee Steinfeld. The trick is to view the film from Nadine's dark, cynical, depressed perspective. Rated: 4/5 Jan 23, 2024 Full Review Read all reviews

Spencer M The Edge of Seventeen is a fantastic film. If you’ve ever dealt with depression, especially during adolescence or coming of age, her raw, honest perspective will definitely resonate with you. Her mistakes are ones we’ve all made, and the film captures growing up with striking authenticity. A must watch. Great film! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/19/24 Full Review WDGen T Though the main character will irritate the heck out of you at times and you want to shout at her to quit being such a narcissistic and angst-ridden lug, after all is said and done, Hailee Steinfeld brings dimensionality to her character and one ends up liking her in spite of everything. Supporting cast is terrific (particularly Woody Harrelson as Mr. Bruner) and the "epiphany" the main character ultimately goes through is believable enough, if a bit hokey. The director, Kelly Freeman Craig, does a great job of balancing humor and gravitas, as well as a collage of other emotions. Overall, this is a richly rewarding and affirming film. I loved it. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 08/30/24 Full Review Audience Member Main character is always on edge. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 08/26/24 Full Review Ava V Don't waste your time with this movie........ Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 07/12/24 Full Review Felix T Glorifies teen drinking and absentee parenting. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 06/14/24 Full Review Jose G Time waster. The main character is unlikable, and self absorbed. A few laughs, but in the end not worth it. After the first five minutes it starts going downhill fast.
