We're proud to be the Linux distribution of choice of the VFX / animation industry! Join the Rocky Linux VFX Special Interest Group at https://lnkd.in/g6bEws-R
The VFX / Animation Studio Workstation Report has been released by Nick Cannon and team! Per the web page: "[this report] serves as a follow-up to 2022's VFX Linux Distribution Recommendation Report, offering a snapshot of the industry's progress nearly two years later." I can share that both the Rocky Linux community as well as CIQ (my company) stands behind the VFX community and we are here to help with anything that is needed. This graph also shows the amount of people still stuck on CentOS 7. CIQ offers a solution called "Bridge" which provides extended life to CentOS 7 and assistance moving to Rocky Linux, so let me know if you are interested and need help here (another shameless plug). https://lnkd.in/gy2hswbR

The Rocky Linux team had a great time at Flock to Fedora last week in Rochester. We were glad to support our upstream at the gold level, and enjoyed being there in person for community development keynotes, hackfests, and after-hours connection. #flocktofedora #flocktorochester #museumofplay #rockycommunity

What’s good for Enterprise Linux development is good for all of Enteprirse Linux. We really enjoyed sharing space with Fedorans and other neighbors in Rochester last week, and are excited about the state of the project.
🚀 Day 2 of hashtag #FlockToFedora is all about technical deep dives! We'll explore topics like CentOS Stream, EPEL, and more. Join the conversation in our CentOS & Friends track, or dive into the General Track for sessions on package management, testing, and more. Don't miss today's highlights: 1. "How (Not) To Get Into Tech" by Anita Zhang 2. "Reproducible builds in Fedora" by Zbigniew Jędrzejewski-Szmek and Davide Cavalca 3. "Fedora Latam, a history of a strong community that needs more contributions" by Eduardo Echeverria ...and many more! Thanks to our Sponsors for supporting Flock this year: Red Hat, CentOS, Rocky Linux, Lenovo, and Microsoft Azure ! #FlockRochester https://lnkd.in/gCiTEn9f

Do ya use Python? Rocky Linux? Both? If you're in Boston this Wednesday (maybe for DevConf.US?), come by the Microsoft R&D Center in Cambridge to hear about Python and its role in building and developing on Rocky Linux! Like Fedora, Rocky Linux was recently registered as a Digital Public Good! This recognition comes from a UN-affiliated group that focuses on highlighting open source projects that can be used to reach UN Sustainable Development Goals. It's really neat! https://lnkd.in/d4XDDU4a #FlockToFedora #RockyLinux

Proud to support GUADEC 2024, presented by the GNOME Foundation. Lots of great content being shared this weekend, including a pair of dynamic keynotes. First Ryan Sipes shared how Thunderbird Project turned around from near extinction to being a phoenix rising from the ashes. Then Stephanie Taylor shared mentorship program tips and tricks learned from 20 years of Google Summer of Code. The common theme running through these keynotes and many of the other talks this weekend is this: open source lives and breathes by engaging its community. Figure that out, and it can elevate the entire trajectory of your organization. #rockycommunity #guadec2024
Made it to the mile-high city for GUADEC, the GNOME Foundation community conference that has not been held in the US for some time. The conference is happening in the historic Tivoli Union on the Auraria campus. The GNOME Foundation exists to empower people with technical tools to manage their personal computing experience. Later today I’ll talk about making open source community accessible to new users. Loving this chance to be present as a speaker, and also represent Rocky Linux as a sponsor. #rockylinuxcommunity #newuserswelcome #rockyevents
