Kind of like Abe Vigoda

[edit]

This article lists Ms. Pons as both living and deceased. Does anyone know if this woman is alive or dead? No encyclopedia is perfect, and I realize that this one is a work in progress. However, not even knowing if the subject of an article is breathing oxygen is just pathetic. (Not to mention an extremely ironic way to commit potential BLP infractions.) To follow up here, I did some checking on the internet. There doesn't seem to be a lot about her, but as far as I can tell, she was still alive several months ago. I'm unable to find anything about her alleged death, let alone something that would stand up to WP:RS. I removed the comment that she died, pending verificaion of such. After further research, I can still find nothing about Pons' alleged passing. I left a message for the editor who, in September, made the edit stating that Pons had died, asking if he or she remembered what it was that led them to believe she was deceased. However, it is an anonymous account that has not edited recently, so I'm not holding my breath. This article doesn't seem to get much traffic, but I would certainly appreciate the assistance of any editor(s) who can help clear this up. Joefromrandb (talk) 08:26, 13 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

New information

[edit]

I created the article for Beatrice Pons a while back and could hardly find anything of her, only that she began acting in 1952, i got her TV and film credits from imdb and that she was born in 1923. I found a website of all of her theatre credits from when she was very young. I also found a website of an interview for an actress who acted with Pons in the film Mother's Day and she mentioned that Pons had died, so i added it on to the article. I recently updated the article with new information i found on imdb, so who knows where that came from, the new info was of her birth date and death date, then again it might not be accurate and maybe she could be still alive because it mentioned above the she was alive several months ago (2010), but her death is down as 2005. Chris, your intentions in expanding the article are noble, but please please please don't use IMDB as a source of personal information in a biography as it is not a reliable source. Although it can be used an an External link and is ok as a basic overview of roles, it should not be used as source. WP:IMDB and WP:RS/IMDB explains in greater detail. --Jezebel'sPonyobons mots 14:42, 5 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Conflation of different women named Beatrice Pons

[edit]

I think that the The date/year of birth and certainly the reference to birthplace in Alabama are conflated from a different different women with similar names to the actress (see [1], [2]). As to the actress, Pons herself, she reportedly used the name Rose Ross as one of her screen credits so maybe there is more info available via that avenue. Sometimes actors disappear and there just isn't followup info, particularly if they were minor actors, now long-forgotten except by auteurs, like us. Infobox rv for that reason as all info dubious. According to the quote in the article from one of her co-stars in the horror film Mother's Day, she is deceased. Also the surname "Ross" which she used as part of her pseudonym (Rose Ross), which was the name she was credited under for that gruesome film, was actually her married name. Her husband (died 1975) was one David Ross. See the personal details in article. Rms125a@hotmail.com (talk) 18:03, 29 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
According to Ancestry.com, there is an image that states: Beatrice Pons (1906-1991). This seems hard to believe, although her husband was born in 1891, so.... An Intelius search appears to confirm 1906-1991 years of birth/death, but I'll go to the NY Library for the Performing Arts and check the clippings file (if any) on the 3rd floor for Pons to see what else I can uncover (if anything) before adding new years of birth/death. Updated accordingly. Rms125a@hotmail.com (talk) 20:05, 2 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
