"Something Different This Year" is a song that was cut from the 2022 Disney+ film, Disenchanted. The song was intended as a possible love duet between Morgan Philip and Tyson Monroe, the latter of which ended up not having a song. The demo version of the song with actors' vocals and a synthesized orchestra is included on the soundtrack of the film. The ending quotes "Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo (The Magic Song)" from Cinderella.
Lyrics[]
Tyson: Every year, I'm draggin' to the festival,
And every year, I gotta do this lame old waltz,
Like "you gotta eat your vegetables",
It's always just the same old, same old.
Dancin' with the same old princesses
Is kinda like I'm doin' it pro bono,
And what no one knows I'm wishin' is
I'm wishin' for a princess that I don't know!
Oh, every year I'm fightin' not to yawn,
Hopin' some excitement will appear.
Prayin' as the ball is draggin' on
Something will be different,
Something will be different this year.
Morgan: I've never been to a fancy dress ball
In a gown all soft and sheer.
Usually, I dance with a broom, after all.
So I can't wait to come
To something different this year.
Tyson: You don't understand. Just wait. You'll see what it's like.
Every dance the same old one-two-three,
The waltz is really boring.
Morgan: Yes, but if you think about it differently,
You could maybe make that waltz feel sort of soaring. (Tyson: One, two, three, one, two, three...)

Morgan and Tyson: Different!
Tyson Now all at once,
For the very first time...
Morgan: I'm going to a ball
Tyson: Wanna wear that boutonnière...
Morgan: And I won't be a flower on the wall!
Tyson: Can't wait to...
Tyson and Morgan: Dance 'til we hear midnight chime!
Morgan: Finally after all!
Tyson: With you there! It's...
Tyson and Morgan: Something different...
Something different this year...
If you'll dance with me,
Then it just might be
Something different...
Something different this year...
