Thank you so much for your help!

[edit]

I am very grateful for your help in uploading Adi Roche voice intro.mp3. I cannot thank you enough. I hope you have a nice day! Slamforeman (talk) 21:51, 26 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Sure thing, thanks for your work making a recording we can use. hinnk (talk) 21:57, 26 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

File:094 Festa Major de Gràcia 2022 (Barcelona), carrer de Mozart.jpg

[edit]

This was a recreation of the film by Kubrick in Festa Major de Gràcia, a festival in which neighbours ornate the streets in paper, plastic, etc. and every decorated street has its own theme, in this case it was the movies. Another recreated ítem from this film was this one: File:090 Festa Major de Gràcia 2022 (Barcelona), carrer de Mozart.jpg. Enric (talk) 00:43, 3 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Enric So is this like a picture of a person walking through a structure created to look like the original film? (I removed the deletion tag, want to update the description too, to make sure it accurately describes what's being shown.) hinnk (talk) 00:53, 3 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
No, it wasn't a person but a sculpture (I don't know if it was made of papier-mâché, as many others, I don't remember) in a hand-painted setting. It was inscribed within the context of an entire street dedicated to cinema. See this category to understand what I mean. Enric (talk) 11:32, 3 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Looking more closely, I think the character is made of paper or cardboard, flat, without relief, and the lights are LED strips. --Enric (talk) 11:49, 3 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Films for English Wikipedia

[edit]

Hi, How do you create WEBM versions for films uploaded to the English Wikipedia? Currently there is no option to use V2C for that. Yann (talk) 14:19, 11 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Usually I'll build it locally using FFmpeg and then upload with User:Rillke/bigChunkedUpload.js. hinnk (talk) 18:28, 11 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
OK, thanks for your answer. What parameters do you use? Yann (talk) 18:37, 11 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Usually it'll look something like: ffmpeg -i in.mp4 -c:v libvpx-vp9 -b:v 6k -deadline best -pass 1 -an -sn -f webm NUL && ffmpeg -i in.mp4 -c:v libvpx-vp9 -b:v 6k -deadline best -pass 2 -an -sn out.webm hinnk (talk) 18:55, 11 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Here are films which can't be uploaded to Commons, but OK for English Wikipedia. I don't have the processing power to convert them. Yann (talk) 19:49, 12 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Heads up that the copy of Sodom and Gomorrah appears to be the copyrighted 1962 film and not the 1922 film. I'm gradually working through the ones that are currently public domain. Some might take a little while to get to, either because I need to compare them against other sources I have queued or because they're very long. hinnk (talk) 22:01, 24 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Ah yes, right. Yann (talk) 10:39, 25 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Old films for Commons

[edit]

Hi, There are 4 more films which I could not upload with V2C. I don't have the processing power to convert them. In case you want to try manually. Yann (talk) 19:39, 12 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Awesome! Thanks for making those available, I'll add them to my queue. I was actually just looking at what I have from Renoir and these are much better quality, so I'll probably get to them sooner rather than later. hinnk (talk) 20:39, 12 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
For these 2, the director died in 1954, but I am not sure that there are other issues, i.e. en:The Indian Tomb (1921 film) (screenplay by Fritz Lang?)
This section should be done now. I had a different version of The Iron Horse already so I used that, and I skipped Behind the Door since there it was previously deleted. I think you're right about The Indian Tomb and put that on enwiki. hinnk (talk) 01:37, 23 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, I find higher version of the movie - [2]. Could you please upload it? 2A00:F41:B87A:AB4D:2543:4D0A:C2EB:1714 00:51, 23 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I'd prefer not to spend time on channels that are upscaling HD video to 4k. hinnk (talk) 01:06, 23 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
File:Nosferatu (1922).webm has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!
