Newport is a seaside city on Aquidneck Island in Newport County, Rhode Island, United States. It is located 23 miles (37 km) south of Providence, and 61 miles (98 km) south of Boston. The city is the county seat of Newport County. The population was 25,163 at the 2020 census.[3] The United States Naval Station Newport is located on the western side of the island, home to the Naval Academy Preparatory School.[4]
