File permission problem with File:A montage of Kochi.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:A montage of Kochi.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. – Train2104 (t • c) 22:55, 11 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Train2104: Thank you for the heads up. I'm now creating a new collage using the already available images in Commons, so that there won't be a permission issue. Shady59 (talk) 22:12, 17 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Gross and nett

[edit]

Hi there, re: this edit of yours, I have reverted it, because it doesn't make much sense. Gross and nett are two disparate concepts in accounting. Whatever you were trying to say, I encourage you to find a clearer way to say it, so that the entirety of our readership who may not be familiar with Indian film industry jargon will be able to comprehend. The objective of the program is to provide laptops and internet stipends for existing editors who need support to contribute more actively. 50 basic model Acer Chromebooks and Internet stipends for 100 contributors are available for distribution. Provided resources are the sole property of the beneficiaries and should be used for the betterment of the movement.

If you're an active Wikimedian, and interested to receive support from this project, please apply. It will take around 10 minutes of your time, and will ask descriptive questions about your contribution to Indic Wikimedia projects.

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Muthoot, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Conglomerate (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. RonBot (talk) 17:16, 30 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Shady59. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "World Trade Center Kochi".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. JMHamo (talk) 10:57, 7 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

revert promotionalism

I have removed your promotionalism for LakeshoreHospital. Nobody except potential users care about routine things like ambulance services and the like, and whether it has been the first in south India to offer certain services is for its own advertising--especially when it has no independent third party source that is not in the nature of a press release. Stop icon

Your recent editing history at Cochin International Airport shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See the bold, revert, discuss cycle for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you do not violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Cochin Shipyard. This means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be although other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Points to note:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. I told you on the RfPP page to start a discussion. You've not done that, you've gone onto the other user's page and put in an agressive warning, and just carried on reverting. I've locked the page. Get on the article talk page and discuss it. To user Shady59 Knowingly you are doing this. The official websites show the truth. Everywhere it's shown cochin shipyard is 110,000 DWt and pipavav is 400,000 DWT. Only thing is that cochin shipyard is far older than pipavav. Piapavav is very new and lot of articles show the old data of cochin being the largest. All these articles badly need an update. Pipavav according to any articles and original websites and even according to the ministry of shipping is 400,000 DWT facility. Cochin according to every article and official governemnt website is 110,000 DWt. 400,000 is certainly far bigger than 110,000. I can prove this to any Wikipedia administrator. you are knowingly showing fake things without listening. You are trying to boast. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Essertrave (talkcontribs) 15:47, 5 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article List of tourist attractions in Kochi has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

The article is rebundant considering there is already a wikivoyage entry for the same topic

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Information icon Hello, I'm Geniac. I noticed that you made an edit concerning content related to a living (or recently deceased) person on Alexandra Breckenridge, but you didn't support your changes with a citation to a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now. Wikipedia has a very strict policy concerning how we write about living people, so please help us keep such articles accurate and clear. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you! Geniac (talk) 18:59, 4 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

a quick discussion about the Thrippunithura article

[edit]

Since I was trying to standardize Wikipedia articles about geographical locations based on official classifications and names and not on arbitrary labels , that's why I named Thrippunithura as a municipality and not as a "region" in Kochi city. But yes, a more "clearer" definition would be that it's part of the Kochi metropolitan area.

Maybe we can arrive on a compromise and do something like "Thrippunithura is a municipality, part of the Kochi metropolitan area" in the opening line?

Any changes are welcome, and I'd love to hear your thoughts! :) Nerdypanda4125 (talk) 15:15, 3 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for reaching out. I appreciate your efforts. I was the editor who initially promoted the Kochi page to Good Article status back in 2018 (Unfortunately, it has since been removed from WP:GA due to a lack of moderation, as I have been quite busy. Your help in promoting it back to WP:GA would be invaluable).
Regarding your edits, I wanted to address an important point. It seems there is some confusion about the geographical scope of Kochi. While the Kochi Corporation defines the official city limits, the broader area commonly referred to as Kochi extends well beyond these boundaries. This is evident from the designation of various state and central government offices, which are located outside the corporation limits but still officially considered part of Kochi. For instance, All India Radio in Vazhakkala is officially titled All India Radio, Kochi-21, and CUSAT in South Kalamassery is known as Cochin University of Science & Technology, Kochi-22. Similarly, the Village Office in Kakkanad is officially Village Office, Kakkanad, Kochi-30.
Kochi Corporation is an outdated 57 year old primitive boundary which has never been expanded. Therefore, limiting the definition of Kochi to the corporation limits is outdated. Kochi encompasses a much larger area, which is recognized in official designations. A parallel can be drawn with Kolkata. The Kolkata Municipal Corporation's boundaries are also outdated and cover a small area relative to the city's actual expanse. Many significant landmarks & destinations of Kolkata are actually outside Kolkata Municipal Corporation, but are even officially classified as part of Kolkata. For example, the iconic Salt Lake Stadium, home to the historic Kolkata teams Mohun Bagan and East Bengal FC, is located in Bidhannagar. Even though it's just 7 kms from the CBD, Biddhanagar is an entirely different Municipal Corporation. But even Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation officially define themselves as a satellite town of the city of Kolkata, situated on the eastern part of the city. So my point is, there is no point in confining Kochi just to the corporation limits.
So my point is, it is important not to confine Kochi merely to the corporation limits. Recognizing the broader area that constitutes Kochi will provide a more accurate representation of the city to the outsiders.
I hope this clarifies my perspective, and I look forward to collaborating to enhance the Kochi page further. Shady59 (talk) 21:47, 6 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Oh thanks for the explanation! And yes, I'll revert back all my edits for the places in the Kochi geographical area. Nerdypanda4125 (talk) 02:27, 16 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
