Loss of life?

[edit]

There's no mention of either loss of life or any rescues.

So, were there any?

Just curious. 2600:8800:785:1300:C23F:D5FF:FEC4:D51D (talk) 03:46, 6 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the suggestion, I've added the number of killed aboard Perle. L293D ( • ) 04:25, 6 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

[Unreliable source] tag

[edit]

Greetings Lyndaship, I see you've placed a {{unreliable source}} tag to ref 3, which links to https://web.archive.org/web/20140810081457/http://sous-marin.france.pagesperso-orange.fr/Q184.htm. Could explain more in detail why you think it is unreliable? L293D ( • ) 19:50, 6 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I did explain in my edit. Basically it is a site created by an enthusiast and has no more validity than what I doodle on my scrap pad. I am particularly dubious of this site as the information I can check, specifically the ship names are all wrong to some degree or other - this implies sloppiness. Also from memory he claimed it was a Dutch aircraft and I think it was a Dutch pilot in a RN squadron. Then the claim the sub was flying a French flag, that would be unusual at sea and another source which would probably be deemed a RS states that the Swordfish did not identify the sub and claimed it as a damage of an unidentified enemy sub wot no flag seen. Then the claim it was bombed, did Swordfish carry bombs on A/S patrol,I don't know but I would have thought depth charges were more likely. Then doesn't he say the convoy was ONM going to Dunver,I think it's an ONS going to Liverpool. Does this explain why I have doubts about this source? Finally I feel it's rather poetic and POV Lyndaship (talk) 20:10, 6 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
