‘Triangle of Sadness’
Written and directed by Swedish filmmaker Ruben Östlund, Triangle of Sadness—now streaming on Hulu—is a dark satire about a group of wealthy people who embark on a luxury cruise that goes horribly, hellishly wrong. It’s the perfect watch for anyone who loves the recent slew of “eat the rich” movies, like The Menu, Ready or Not, and Parasite. That said, it is not for the faint of heart—or stomach. This movie features the grossest vomit-and-diarrhea sequence I have ever witnessed. But if you can stomach the abhorrent close-ups of bodily fluids, you’ll be rewarded with the movie’s wildly entertaining final act, taking place on a deserted island, which is by far the best part. Abigail will always be my captain.
