‘The Old Man’ Season 2
FX’s The Old Man has always been a different kind of spy thriller, least of all because its ass-kicking action star is the 74-year-old Jeff Bridges. No, The Old Man flips the conventions of the drama by making the stakes personal. Once again, “Dan Chase” (Jeff Bridges), a retired elite CIA operative finds himself fighting not to save the world or even America; Chase wants his kidnapped daughter Emily (Alia Shawkat) back. The Old Man Season 1 ended with Emily being brought to Afghanistan. She thinks her captor, Faraz Hamzad (Navid Negahban) is the enemy. In fact, he’s her biological father. The Old Man consistently toys with our expectations, offering up thrilling twists, turns, and action sequences. But where the show is its most thrilling is in its mature approach to drama. The Old Man Season 2 rules.
