‘The Good, the Bad and the Ugly’
What better way to prepare for Clint Eastwood’s new western than with one of his OG masterpieces? The Good, the Bad and the Ugly is, believe it or not, an Italian classic. That’s right — even the most American-seeming film is actually a European hit in disguise. That’s because the swashbuckling flick is what’s known as a “spaghetti western,” meaning it was made in Italy, but it’s still part of the western genre thanks to plenty of Americana imagery. Sergio Leone’s hit western follows a trio of cowboys (you guessed it: one good, one bad, and one ugly) as they hunt for treasure amidst the American Civil War. While the film is outstanding, what’ll stick is that phenomenal score by the late Ennio Morricone. You’ll recognize it immediately!
