‘Pillow Talk’
Have you already watched all your favorite romcoms multiple times while holed up in your living room? Then it’s time to reach back in time to the classics—and you gotta start with the iconic Pillow Talk. Even though the film (now streaming on Peacock) is from 1959, it really feels right in line with the romcoms of today. There’s a scoundrel of a man, a no-nonsense whirlwind of a woman, more than a few heated exchanges, and a rather extensive game of mistaken identity—but all that adds up to love! The film stars the iconic duo of Doris Day and Rock Hudson, two of the most dynamic lovebirds to ever hook up in a romcom. Of course, any film from 1959 is gonna be dated AF at times: the whole plot revolves around a party line (look it up, kiddos!), and a weaselly dude gets way too handsy with Doris Day. But—it’s also fun to rewatch the movie with the modern day knowledge that Rock Hudson, a stunning stone slab of a man, was totally gay, gay gay IRL!
