‘Oasis Knebworth 1996’
At a time (the mid 1990’s) when the global cultural zeitgeist was focused on the United Kingdom, Oasis, the country’s biggest pop stars since the Beatles and the party champions of the people, played two shows for a quarter of a million concertgoers on an estate north of London called Knebworth. At the time, it was a lager-drenched catharsis for both band and their fans. In retrospect, the shows represent a crowning peak of the Britpop phenomenon. Oasis Knebworth 1996 is part concert film and part documentary, telling the story of the event via archival footage as well as fan attestation.
