‘Juliet, Naked’
Never have I ever been more attracted to Ethan Hawke than I was watching him as a pleasant 40-something dudebro in the charming little film Juliet, Naked, which is now streaming on Hulu. A rom-com that flew under the radar when it came out in 2018, Juliet Naked—based on the Nick Hornby novel of the same name—stars Hawke as an obscure retired musician named Tucker Crowe, Chris O’Dowd as the grown man obsessed with him, and Rose Byrne as the long-suffering girlfriend of O’Dowd. I won’t spoil too much, but let’s just say if you’re frustrated by a man-child in your life, this film is the perfect, light-hearted revenge. Ethan Hawke wears a lot of Hawaiian shirts that show off his forearms, and it’s truly the hot, charismatic dad version of Ethan Hawke that the late 2010s needed. I am so thankful.
