‘Glee,’ Season 2, Episode 12: “Silly Love Songs”
It’s the weekend before Valentine’s Day, so why not take a trip down memory lane? Ryan Murphy’s Fox musical comedy Glee has a total of three Valentine’s Day episodes, but there’s one that lives rent-free in my mind. The Season 2 episode “Silly Love Songs” goes on several absurd paths as the episode is split among the McKinley High New Directions and Dalton Academy’s Warblers. At the core school, the glee club is assigned to perform love songs and quarterback Finn Hudson (Cory Monteith) is on a high due to his newfound popularity, which leads him to open a kissing booth. Then, over at Dalton, Kurt Hummel (Chris Colfer) is still trying to woo his crush Blaine Anderson (Darren Criss), but the lead Warbler has his sights set on someone else. With poorly received serenades, tons of smooching, and a memorable rendition of the Beatles song the episode is named after, “Silly Love Songs” is a blast!
