‘Designing Women’
In the 80s Annie Potts, who turns 65 today, was pleasantly inescapable, first as receptionist Janine Melnitz in Ghostbusters, and then as Mary Jo Shively, an interior designer on the CBS sitcom Designing Women. The long-running (1986-1993), female-dominated series was progressive in its exploration of social issues, while being one of the more reliably laugh-filled shows in prime time.
