‘Black Swan’
A dance movie that very quickly morphs into body horror, Black Swan is a masterclass in tension from the moment it starts. Anchored by Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis’ compelling performances, the movie tells the story of a dancer who desperately wants to be featured in a production of “Swan Lake,” no matter what the cost. The film, like most of director Darren Aronofsky’s, descends quickly into terror, as Portman’s psyche fractures and so does the increasingly thin wall between reality and fantasy. Fans of the Step Up movies might want to look elsewhere, but everyone else should tune in for a unique experience you won’t soon forget.
