‘Abbott Elementary’ Season 3
After nearly a year off the air, Quinta Brunson’s Emmy-winning mockumentary Abbott Elementary is back on ABC and sharper than ever. A supersized Season 3 premiere skillfully executed a five-month time jump, introduced three new characters (including Manny, played by the delightful Josh Segarra), and welcomed a number of exciting guests — the first in a star-studded Season 3 lineup that showrunners Patrick Schumacker and Justin Halpern promise will “shock” viewers and cast members alike. With timely pop culture zingers (from “Jeremy Allen Black” to The Golden Bachelorette), a slow-burn romance simmering on the back burner, a spotlight on the inner workings of a school district, and more off-campus character check-ins, Abbott Elementary is shaking things up in Season 3. The writing and cast remain top-notch, comedy and heart exude from each episode, and it makes perfect sense that the series snagged an early Season 4 renewal.
