A man apparently shot and killed a woman and then himself early Thursday at an Allentown home, the Lehigh County coroner’s office said.
The deceased were identified Friday as Jesus J. Cruz Ortiz, 53, and Livi E. Beltran Fernandez, 44,
The shootings occurred shortly after midnight on the 2000 block of East Cedar Street.
The Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office said Fernandez was shot multiple times and Ortiz was shot once in the head.
“The sole suspect is Jesus Cruz Ortiz and no other individual is believed to have been involved,” the office said in a statement. “The investigation is ongoing but at this point, it does not appear likely that any other criminal conduct occurred.”
