Presales professionals continue to be some of the friendliest folks I meet! 😁 A few weeks ago during #Demofest in San Francisco, I had the opportunity to catch up with Brian Lewis in person. Our schedules may have been hectic, but we finally circled back to have an insightful conversation yesterday, allowing me to delve deeper into what Homerun Presales has to offer. What they've developed is an impressively user-friendly and meticulously designed tool for presales professionals. Their solution serves as a centralized hub for collecting all the essential notes and data points required when working on an opportunity. Plus, with its seamless integration with CRM systems, adding information is easy and doesn't require the SE to spend time in an unfriendly tool. One feature that particularly caught my eye was the dashboard displaying all the opportunities the SE is currently handling, complete with status updates, blockers, and other pertinent information. On the managerial side, there's a tailored view that provides valuable insights into the team's workflow, facilitating the identification of potential challenges before they escalate. During our conversation, Brian generously walked me through the platform, highlighting its various functionalities and capabilities. If you're looking to elevate your presales game by adopting a more business-centric approach, I highly recommend reaching out to Brian and the team at Homerun Presales. 63% of PreSales teams are supporting “post sales” activity. One of my favorite findings from the 2024 State of PreSales Report we just released. Surprised? Honestly, no. Saw this coming 👀 ever since authoring the piece with James Kaikis around a centralized Solutions org. What did surprise me was the overwhelming percentage of PreSales teams actively engaged there already. It happened fast. 🚀 When the market got tough, the reinforcements were called in to help with churn prevention and expansion when new business was hard to come by for many. Those reinforcements were Sales Engineers. 👩💻 And now that they’ve been engaged across a broader range of the customer lifecycle many are rethinking their org structures and the “tried and true” relationship of SE and CSM. 🧐 Because they’ve stumbled onto something that works better… Over the last 6 months, I’ve seen orgs move to: ✔️ 0 CSM. The same SE owns the entire journey ✔️ 0 CSM. The SEs are split into hunter / farmer and share the load ✔️ CSM, SE and SE Adoption Squad. The latter matrices with the CSM team to provide deeper domain knowledge. 🤬 Then there are the unfortunate folks who are running the “standard” CSM + SE mix but the SEs are just pulled into customer work “on their spare time” and without the right incentive. PreSales teams can do wonders for customer retention and expansion, but need to have the right staffing and remits in place to make it work for everyone. Want more details?
