  • Study and characterization of lunar craters using Mini-SAR data of Chandrayaan-1

International Conference on Microwave and Photonics (ICMAP), 2013

Analyzing lunar surface with various approaches is still a very challenging task. Therefore, in this paper, an attempt has been made to critically analyze the lunar surface by using various approaches so that the possibility of water ice can be predicted. The polarimetric approach helps in determining physical and electrical properties of target. Therefore, in this paper, an attempt has been made to critically analyze the lunar surface by using various approaches so that the possibility of water ice can be predicted. The polarimetric approach helps in determining physical and electrical properties of target. The polarimetric approaches, `m-δ' decomposition and `m-χ' decomposition, have been used for obtaining the information of scattering mechanisms. In order to determine electrical properties of lunar surface, dielectric constant has been measured using Campbell's approach. Then, specular diffuse model has been applied for identifying various craters with reference to surface roughness and possibility of water-ice deposits.

Projects

  • Design, Development and Implementation of receiver processor software on virtex 4 FPGA

Developed receiver processor using Very High Speed Integrated Circuit Hardware Description Language.
Analysed the data recieved in parallel from four homodyne receivers using the developed receiver processor.
Developed top level design by port mapping the modules and tested for its functionality.
Implemented the design in the target hardware and tested the functionality.

  • DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT OF FMCW RADAR TRANSRECEIVER BASED ON DDS SYNTHESIS.

    -

This project presents some design problems and aspects of building FMCW radar transmitter based on DDS. Significant parameters of this radar are small targets detection possibility, small resolution cell and high range resolution. It requires resolving a problem of generating microwave signals with excellent linear frequency modulation and very good phase noise performance. One of the possible solutions is DDS (direct digital synthesis) technology, which is rapidly advancing.
