The world's largest Open Source foundation. Celebrating 23 years of community-led innovation "The Apache Way".
About us
Established in 1999, the all-volunteer Foundation oversees more than 350 leading Open Source projects, including Apache HTTP Server —the world's most popular server software. Through the ASF's meritocratic process known as "The Apache Way," 850+ individual Members and 8,200+ Committers successfully collaborate to develop freely available enterprise-grade software, benefiting millions of users worldwide: thousands of software solutions are distributed under the Apache License; and the community actively participates in ASF mailing lists, mentoring initiatives, and ApacheCon, the Foundation's official global conference series. The ASF is a US 501(c)(3) charitable organization, funded by individual donations and corporate sponsors including Aetna, Alibaba Cloud Computing, Amazon Web Services, Anonymous, Baidu, Bloomberg, Budget Direct, Capital One, Cerner, Cloudera, Comcast, Didi Chuxing, Facebook, Google, Huawei, IBM, Microsoft, Pineapple Fund, Red Hat, Reprise Software, Target, Tencent, Workday, Union Investment, and Verizon Media. Across the ASF, thousands of people make contributions to projects every month. Contributions are not just about code. We all start somewhere – contributing docs, marketing, translations, mentorship, running or participating in events, etc. – and all forms of contributions can have an equal, positive impact on a project’s health and longevity. Do you remember your #FirstASFContribution? Maybe you've contributed to more than one project? We'd love to hear from you! Share your story + help inspire others on their #opensource journey https://bit.ly/3seZbu6

The organizers of the Community Over Code NA conference are pleased to announce our three outstanding keynote speakers for this year's conference in Denver, CO! On Monday, Atlanta-based Kris Kersey will demonstrate how he has fabricated a completely functional Iron Man-style helmet, complete with full sensorium. Kris is honored to give this talk, because "as a young adult who grew up with the benefits of open source and who learned by example, this is a great full-circle moment for me." Tuesday is going to be security day at Community Over Code, with the CISA's Aeva Black giving their morning keynote on the present-day challenges facing open source security. In the afternoon, they will continue the focus on security, hosting a tabletop exercise for select attendees that will test public-private coordination efforts during a major incident affecting a critical open source project. Our final keynote speaker on Wednesday morning will be Alicia Gibb from the Open Source Hardware Association, sharing her work with OSHWA and its important place in the open source ecosystem. Regular-price tickets are still available, and ASF committers, use your valid Apache email address to get the discounted Committer rate! Act fast, before September 16, to get the discounted room rate at the venue hotel! https://lnkd.in/eCHd3cfA
