Today, it's hard to remember the state of television when CBS' biggest procedural hit was just getting started. Since 2003, NCIS has been one of the most successful shows on the network, as well as compared to other popular shows. Now, with a handful of spinoffs and 21 seasons of the main show, it's too easy to forget its origins.
Many believe that NCIS began as a stand-alone series, but this is not true. Created by Donald P. Bellisario, the show began as a spinoff of the unfairly forgotten CBS legal drama series Jag.
When Did Jag End?
Jag, which stands for Judge Advocate General in the U.S. military, originated on NBC back in 1995. The show wasn't as big a hit as you might think, judging by the NCIS numbers, but the move to CBS kept the story afloat and even made it more interesting. All in all, the drama lasted...

The agents investigate the death of a marine whose parachute fails to open and he falls onto the car of two teens. Kate's (Sasha Alexander) first case as an NCIS agent and Kate is eager to help Abby, (Pauley Perrette). Why would she think that Gibbs (Mark Harmon) would let her do any forensic work, when she hasn't a clue about forensics? Or if I really wanted to stick the boot in, I would say, she knows nothing about being an NCIS agent either! Tony (Michael Weatherly) did some forensic work in season 5 Ghost Ship episode, even if that involved Abby telling him how to use the centrifuge. Also in season 5 when Abby was commandeered to work for the FBI, she wanted someone in charge of the lab and Gibbs appointed Tony. Abby got into forensics because she used to look at car wrecks, taking photos and looking at the action and reaction,...

The Life Goes On tv show ran on ABC from 1989 until 1993. The series was never a hit and didn't even crack the list of 30 top-rated shows. Still, it's well-remembered as the first series to feature a main character with Down syndrome as a main character.
The TV show revolves around the Thatcher family. Drew (Bill Smitrovich) and Libby (Patti LuPone) struggle with typical family issues, as well as help their son, "Corky" (Chris Burke), integrate into the rest of the world. He eventually moves out, gets a job, and marries Amanda (Andrea Friedman) who also has Down's.
Paige (Monique Lanier, then Tracey Needham) is Drew's adult daughter from a first marriage. Teenager Becca (Kellie Martin) is the youngest Thatcher and sometimes too intelligent and emotional for her own good. After a relationship with jock Tyler (Tommy Puett), she falls in love...

George Clooney Receives Death Threat
George Clooney was given a death threat when he promised to buy a close friend a motorbike - by the pal's angry wife. Clooney, who befriended his eight close male pals in the early 1980s when he first arrived in Hollywood from Kentucky - with just $300 in his pocket - frequently pays for their luxurious holidays and bought each pal an exclusive motorcycle for Christmas. But the Three Kings (1999) star was blocked from buying pal Tommy Hinkley one of the speedy bikes when his wife, TV star Tracey Needham, urged him to forget the plan. Hinkley says, "Tracey just said that she would allow me to do a lot of things but she put her foot down over the bike. She just said there is no way. She told George if he bought me a bike she would kill him. So that was that."...
