Transformers One has come in below expectations, allowing Beetlejuice Beetlejuice to hold on to the top spot at the domestic box office for the third week in a row.
Analysts predicted $30 million to $40 million debut for Paramount's animated prequel, which only ended up taking in $25 million from 3,978 venues. The movie - which had a reported budget of $75 million - also made $14 million internationally, for a global total of $39 million.
Tim Burton's long-awaited sequel added $26 million from 4,172 theaters, bringing its domestic total to $225 million, and $329.7 million worldwide.
Transformers One received positive reviews (89% on Rotten Tomatoes) and strong audience scores, so the belief is that ticket sales could rebound over the next few weeks.

Tim Burton is known for making odd movies but the central plot of Batman is on another level. The movie has the last type of plot you would expect from a film about the Caped Crusader. What’s even more unusual is that nobody seems to talk about this artistic choice.
Tim Burton’s ‘Batman’ is a twisted love triangle
We expect superhero stories to revolve around clashes of personality and attempts to save the world. Burton’s Batman is, in essence, a love triangle. Bruce Wayne loves a reporter named Vicki Vale who becomes the object of the Joker’s affections. Vicki is apparently fine with guys who wear bat costumes but not guys in clown costumes, so she goes for the Caped Crusader. Of course, the Joker has a habit of taking everything too far, so the film’s climax revolves around him kidnapping Vicki and Batman trying to save her.

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice has been blowing up the box office, having already grossed over $264 million less than two weeks after its release. It’s a much-needed win for Warner Bros., which makes it all the more surprising that the studio had originally planned to give the Beetlejuice sequel a streaming release on Max.
It’s been a long road for the Beetlejuice sequel, and according to a New York Times report, Warner Bros. didn’t have a lot of faith that the project would be a success. They still wanted the film but were pushing for it to be released exclusively on the Max streaming service. Director Tim Burton wasn’t a big fan of that idea. “That was never going to work for Tim,” said studio co-chair Pamela Abdy. “You’re talking about visionary artist whose films demand to be seen on a big screen.“

More than a year after Paul Reubens‘ death, thousands of the actor’s loyal fans gathered at his final resting place to celebrate his most beloved character.
Cinespia concluded its Summer 2024 season on Saturday at Hollywood Forever Cemetery with a special tribute screening of Pee-wee’s Big Adventure (1985), featuring surprise appearances from Reubens’ co-stars Diane Salinger and E.G. Daily, as well as the movie’s composer Danny Elfman and producer Richard Gilbert Abramson (who was also Reubens’ manager).
Fred Armisen kicked off the screening by introducing Tony Hawk, who recalled his friendship with Reubens after meeting at an event about 10 years ago. “He and I kept in touch, and he was the sweetest,” recalled Hawk. “I was honored to be the recipients of one of his ‘birthday bomb texts,’ where — you might have heard about it — it’s your birthday and you get texts nonstop all day, just memes from Paul Reubens.

The juice is loose! The Ghost with the most is back! Beetlejuice has returned!
Michael Keaton reprised his role as the legendary bio-exorcist in Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, the long-awaited 2024 sequel to the 1988 classic. He wasn't alone, either, as Winona Ryder and Catherine O'Hara returned along with director Tim Burton and Danny Elfman for a truly glorious, off-the-wall, campy, and horrifying outing worthy of its outlandish predecessor.
The sequel is an interesting one as it captures much of the '80s charm of the original while also appealing to modern audiences, thanks in no small part to Wednesday's Jenna Ortega, who appeared as the daughter of Lydia Deetz, Astrid.
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice was a harrowing experience for the Deetzes once again, but what does it all mean?

Praise Betelgeuse: Tim Burton is back, baby.
For fans of the goth icon and his own peculiar vision of blockbuster filmmaking, the past few years have not exactly been an easy time to shake senora and jump in the line. Once one of popular cinema’s most distinctive auteurs, producing populist hits like “Beetlejuice” and “Batman Returns” that truly could only have been made through his distinctive lens, Burton’s output became increasingly scattershot in the 21st century. But even failures like his “Planet of the Apes” retelling were balanced out by more successful efforts
It was around 2010 when Burton increasingly became subsumed in passionless, frictionless franchise fare, from his pointless “Alice in Wonderland” take to his baffling 2019 remake of “Dumbo.” Along the way, all of the signature elements that make a Burton film so distinct — gothic architecture and aesthetics reminiscent of German Expressionism, suburban kitsch, quirky black comedy suitable for adults and children alike,...

The Juice has well and truly been set loose at the box office, as Tim Burton's long-awaited Beetlejuice sequel claims the No. 1 spot from Deadpool and Wolverine with a record-breaking domestic debut.
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice scared up an estimated $110 million in North America ($145M worldwide) to give it the 3rd biggest opening of 2024; 2nd biggest opening ever for Tim Burton; 2nd best September opening, and 2nd biggest opening ever for a horror film, surpassing Warner Bros.' It: Chapter 2.
This also means that the sequel has already surpassed the original movie's entire global gross ($74 million) after a single weekend in theaters.
Getting back to Marvel Studios' massively successful first foray into R-rated territory, and it looks like the movie is set to premiere on Digital platforms early next month (we're still waiting on an official announcement).

With the sequel bound to introduce a new generation to the Tim Burton classic, now’s the perfect time to look back at the movie and figure out why it stands the test of time. 10. A Timeless Tale:
There’s a reason why Beetlejuice still resonates all these decades following its initial release. From the time we mere mortals realize that our time on earth is limited, we become preoccupied with the afterlife. Beetlejuice tackles the theme with unusual aplomb, imagining the afterlife as just another stop in our soul’s journey to its final resting place, with our heroes, Alec Baldwin’s Adam and Geena Davis’s Barbara,...

This article contains mild spoilers for "Beetlejuice Beetlejuice."
Ever since the first "Beetlejuice" escalated the obsession the ghostly Maitland couple had with Harry Belafonte to them trying to rid their home of the obnoxious Deetz family by making them do a possession lip sync dance number to "Banana Boat (Day-o)," it seemed like a given that a follow-up setpiece had to happen if "Beetlejuice" ever got a sequel. Of course, follow-ups to gags can be tricky, especially in comedy sequels. Some try to go bigger and wilder, such as the climactic news team battle in "Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues." Others try and undercut or subvert the expectation, like when Phoebe Cates' Kate starts delivering a monologue about some trauma that happened to her on Lincoln's birthday and is cut off in "Gremlins 2: The New Batch." Others still merely pick up where the bit left off in the first film,...

Update: According to Deadline, the Friday numbers for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice are coming in much higher than anticipated. With a $42 million gross, Tim Burton’s sequel should be able to blow past $100 million for the weekend. The news is less rosy for the weekend’s other new release, A24’s The Front Room, which grossed a poor $600k on course for a $1.5 million opening. The controversial Reagan biopic starring Dennis Quaid seems to be performing surprisingly well, with it on track for a weekend in the $5 million range.

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is now in theaters, and we're breaking down the long-awaited sequel's batsh*t crazy final act to see if the door to the Afterlife might be left open for a third movie.
Major spoilers follow.
When her daughter Astrid (Jenna Ortega) is tricked into trading her soul to restore the ghost of murderous neighbour/love-interest Jeremy (Arthur Conti) to life, Lydia Deetz (Winona Ryder) reluctantly summons Betelgeuse (Michael Keaton) for help. The Ghost with the Most agrees to bring Lydia to the Afterlife to rescue Astrid... if she'll sign a contract promising to be his bride.
Lydia manages to bring Astrid home, but has already agreed to marry Rory (Justin Theroux), who Betelgeuse exposes as a gold-digging cad. Still, the prospect of tying the knot with a lecherous demon isn't exactly appealing to Lydia, and Astrid manages to find a loophole which allows her mother out of the bargain.

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, the loooong-awaited sequel to Tim Burton’s beloved 1988 classic, is a bold attempt to recapture the magic of its predecessor. With original stars Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, and Catherine O’Hara reprising their roles, Burton reunites with his eccentric creation, hoping to evoke the whimsical macabre style that defined his early career. Yet, despite a healthy dose of nostalgia, quirky visual effects, and Danny Elfman’s unmistakable score, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice falls short of its potential, delivering an uneven, overstuffed Halloween romp that’s more style than substance.
The film picks up 36 years after the original, with Lydia Deetz (Winona Ryder) now a famous TV ghost-hunter and mother to rebellious teenager Astrid (Jenna Ortega). Lydia, still haunted by her past encounter with Betelgeuse (Michael Keaton), finds herself drawn back into the Neitherworld when Astrid unwittingly becomes trapped in the afterlife. While Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is set to become a major success, its writers, Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, are setting up their next project. THR reports that the writers of the Beetlejuice sequel are set to produce a movie adaptation of Ice Cream Man, the horror anthology comic written and created by W. Maxwell Prince.
Screen Gems recently acquired the rights to Ice Cream Man and is in early development on the movie. Gough and Millar will produce through their Millar Gough Ink banner, and Aaron Schmidt will also produce for the company. The search is currently on for a writer. The comic tells a series of loosely connected horror stories which typically share the common link of Rick, an ice cream man whose motives are mysterious. Sometimes friend, sometimes foe, Rick uses his inexplicable powers to string together tales of woe and wonder. The series is illustrated by Martin Morazzo with colours by Chris O’Halloran.

Plenty of bananas and a gruesomely gorgeous wedding cake get praise in musical moments in Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. Several 80s artists like Donna Summer, Jimmy Buffet and The Bee Gees have songs featured in the film, which is a followup to the 1988 original starring Michael Keaton as the ghost with the most, Winona Ryder as goth girl Lydia Deetz and Catherine O’Hara as Lydia’s stepmother Delia Deetz.
Wednesday’s Jenna Ortega joins the sequel in addition to other newcomers, and she has another fun dance moment set to one of the songs in the film’s soundtrack below. A choir sings a beautiful rendition of “Day-o” which can be heard in the film’s trailer. Of course, there wouldn’t be a musical dance moment — or more — without some possessed bodies and souls. The ghost with the most has an impeccable sense of timing. Tim Burton's highly-anticipated "Beetlejuice" sequel is slithering its way into theaters as we speak and, not coincidentally, Warner Bros. Discovery has made sure that the 1988 original has been made available to stream on their exclusive streaming service Max in recent weeks; you know, for all the young'uns who might only just be getting around to the horror-comedy classic for the first time. Well, fans both new and old have yet another item on their to-do list before heading out to the multiplex and, somehow, it's even more of a trip than the actual movie itself.
You remember the "Beetlejuice" animated series that first aired in 1989 in the immediate aftermath of the first film? You know, the one we only just reported here on /Film as all but impossible to watch these days? Well, apparently the Powers That Be...

It’s impossible to imagine The Simpsons without its iconic opening sequence, which succinctly establishes who each member of the Simpson family is, gives us the rough layout of the town of Springfield, and, of course, subliminally communicates Matt Groening’s “radical right-wing” beliefs.
The animation also fits well with the famous score by Danny Elfman — like how the strings give way to a chorus of voices singing “The Simpsons” right as the clouds part to reveal the title. Brilliant. And the way the whole orchestra momentarily pauses to allow for Lisa’s disruptive sax solo. Also brilliant.
It’s hands down one of the best openings to a TV show ever. In fact, Disney+ viewers should be fined for hitting the “Skip Intro” button on this work of art.
As indelible to pop-culture as it is today, there was a time when the Simpsons team had to cobble together an opening sequence from scratch.

Tim Burton's long-awaited sequel, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, is now in theaters, and, as fans hoped it would, the movie does explain what happened to the original film's protagonists.
Though Michael Keaton's titular Ghost with the Most was obviously the main attraction in Tim Burton's horror comedy classic, the main characters were actually Adam and Barbara Maitland (played by Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis).
The recently married couple are killed in a car accident in the first few minutes of the movie, and their displaced spirits wind up summoning Betelgeuse in an effort to drive the new owners of their house (Winona Ryder's Lydia Deetz and her family) away. Things don't exactly go according to plan, however.
Ultimately, Betelgeuse is banished, and the Deetzs and Maitlands agree to share the house.
Keaton, Ryder and Catherine O'Hara (who plays Lydia's mother) reprise their roles for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, but Baldwin and Davis don't appear.

And thus begins the start of spooky season! Halloween is next month, but fans of ghosts and ghouls are able to start getting their fix with the release of Tim Burton‘s long-awaited sequel Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, which was 36 years in the making. Beetlejuice Beetlejuice was in development hell for decades before it finally got made. In 1990, Jonathan Gems was hired to write a sequel that was going to be titled Beetlejuice Goes Hawaiian. Burton considered having Daniel Waters rewrite that script. Pamela Norris did rewrite it, and Warner Bros. offered Kevin Smith the chance to do another rewrite. He turned it down. Seth Grahame-Smith was hired to write and produce a new version of a sequel in 2011. Mike Vukadinovich was brought on to rewrite his script in 2017.

“It’s showtime!”…well more like HBO and Max eventually after this brand spankin’ (careful) new sequel to a much-beloved iconic 1980s cinema classic enjoys a healthy stint at the ole’ multiplex. Yup, it’s now been 36 years since that original comedy/fantasy firmly announced the quirky storytelling style of a former animator (though he’d keep a hand in the medium) after hinting at what to come with that “big adventure” with a much-missed movie hero. But can he, along with a new movie generation and fans of the “first”, really “go home” again (and the “great beyond”)? Now all it’ll take is a theatre ticket, along with proclaiming the main character’s name three times, though to be safe the formal title only repeats it twice with Beetljuice Beetlejuice. Now what’s that “sniff” sulfur smell…?l

Cinema has hundreds of years of history, so it’s only natural that generation after generation, certain “blind spots” emerge in different ways. Those who grew up with the classics of their time are often shocked when people decades younger have never seen a particular film or even any movie by an influential filmmaker. It’s a cinephile cycle that will endure forever – after all, if we dive too deeply into the past as if we were living it in real-time, how can we enjoy what the present has to offer? All of this to say that I watched Beetlejuice (1988) for the first time this past weekend in preparation for its sequel, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, once again directed by Tim Burton.

It's been more than three decades in the making, but director Tim Burton is finally back with a sequel to his 1988 classic "Beetlejuice." Thankfully, it's not in the form of "Beetlejuice Goes Hawaiian" or one of the other many versions that didn't actually get made over the years. Instead, Burton has reunited with Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, and Catherine O'Hara for the aptly titled "Beetlejuice Beetlejuice," which figures to be one of the biggest movies of the fall movie season. But just how big is it? Does the pandemonium continue even after the credits start rolling?
Burton isn't exactly known for franchises, to say the least. This is actually the first time he's directed a sequel to one of his own movies since 1992's "Batman Returns." So it's not like Burton is in the business of setting up things that will pay off down the road. Still, we must ask:...

Tim Burton's long-awaited sequel to his cult classic, Beetlejuice, opens this weekend, and the movie is expected to have a ghoulishly good debut at the box office.
According to the latest estimates (via Deadline), Beetlejuice Beetlejuice should take in around $145 million worldwide (Warner Bros. is anticipating an $80M domestic bow). If this proves to be accurate, the sequel will debut with more than the lifetime gross of the original 1988 movie, which finished its run at $74.6M, unadjusted for inflation.
The chaotic horror comedy should also claim the spot from Marvel Studios' Deadpool and Wolverine, which - despite briefly being dethroned by Alien: Romulus - has remained at #1 for six weekends it's been in theaters.
Do you plan on seeing Beetlejuice Beetlejuice this weekend? You can check out our reaction to the movie below.

Plot: After the death of her father, Lydia Deetz (Winona Ryder) returns to her family home in Winter River with her daughter, Astrid (Jenna Ortega) and stepmother, Delia (Catherine O’Hara), in tow. Once there, she becomes plagued by visions of a certain “ghost with the most,” who has problems of his own.
Review: For a while there, you couldn’t have been blamed for thinking Tim Burton had maybe lost a bit of his touch. He had a long run of mediocre movies that climaxed with Dumbo, a movie the director hated so much it almost made him quit the business. However, watching Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, it can’t be denied that returning to his old stomping grounds by making a sequel to his first mega-hit, Beetlejuice, might have been just what the doctor ordered, with it his most energetic, playful, and creative film in years.

Betelgeuse. Betelgeuse. Betel -- okay, let's stop right there. We know what happens when you say the man's name thrice, and we wouldn't want this article to get too out of hand. Then again, many readers may not know anything about Betel -- er, the Betel guy -- and might need a recap before venturing into Tim Burton's "Beetlejuice Beetlejuice," the belated sequel to his 1988 comedy/horror classic. Don't worry, kids, we've got you covered.
For starters, the original "Beetlejuice" stars Alec Baldwin (who thought the film would ruin his career), Geena Davis, Winona Ryder, Catherine O'Hara, and Michael Keaton, and follows a young couple who perish in an automobile accident and return to their home as ghosts only to discover they must share the place with some unruly new occupants. Hoping to rid their house of these unwanted guests, our naive heroes turn to a demented demon named Betelgeuse (Keaton) and,...

It’s been over three decades since Michael Keaton’s iconic performance as Beetlejuice terrified and delighted audiences in Tim Burton’s classic 1988 comedy. In the original film, Beetlejuice is summoned by Goth teen Lydia Deetz to scare away the new owners of her house. What ensues is a trippy ghostly battle and a truly unique movie that established Burton as a master of mischievous macabre.
Jump to 2022, and Beetlejuice is rising from the dead once more as Burton revisits this beloved character for a new sequel. Lydia is all grown up now, played again by Winona Ryder, hosting a TV show about the paranormal.
But she remains forever haunted by her link to the pesky spirit world. When strange happenings hit her hometown of Winter River, she’ll have to reckon with the demon she never fully banished—Beetlejuice is back with his trademark chaotic antics.

There’s an inventive sequence early in the unexpectedly delightful Beetlejuice Beetlejuice in which the Bee Gees’ “Tragedy” accompanies Monica Bellucci’s soul-sucking demoness as her hacked up body parts are shaken loose from crates in the afterlife’s lost-and-found warehouse, where she proceeds to stitch herself back together like a gorgeous DIY Frankenstein monster. That scene multitasks as a show of kinship with the same actor’s role as a vampire bride in Bram Stoker’s Dracula; a tribute from Tim Burton to a key Gothic literature inspiration; and a darkly delicious valentine to the director’s offscreen partner of the past two years.
One of many inspired set-pieces in a clever sequel laced with hilarious callbacks to the 1988 original and amusingly eclectic pop-culture references to everything from Carrie to Mario Bava, from Soul Train to Donna Summer, it’s not the only time during the movie that I scrawled,...

More a cult classic than a full-blown masterpiece, the original 1988 Beetlejuice is fondly remembered for a few key reasons: the extraordinary ants-in-his-pants live-action cartoon-character performance that was Michael Keaton in the title role; the crowning of a teenage goth queen in Winona Ryder’s Lydia Deetz; and the true establishment — in only his second film — of the spooky filmmaking force that is Timothy Walter Burton, a director so distinctive that his mere name announces a certain freaky style and stance.
The ingeniously named Beetlejuice Beetlejuice sees the director get back to his roots. Right from the ghostly title sequence and Danny Elfman score, the camera once again swooping over the sleepy New England town of Winter River, Connecticut, you know exactly where all this is going. As before, it’s anchored by Lydia, now a “psychic mediator” on a paranormal reality TV show called ‘Ghost House’ and dating slimy TV...

Back in 1988, “Beetlejuice” was a comedy, a ghost story, a high-camp horror film, and a macabre funhouse ride, all driven by a new kind of palm-buzzer freak-show prankishness. I first saw the movie at a Saturday-night sneak preview, before anyone knew a thing about it, and by the time it was over it was clear that the director, Tim Burton, was going to be a superstar who ruled over his own weirdly ardent world of ghoulish mockery.
Burton, at 26, had already directed “Pee-wee’s Big Adventure,” but “Beetlejuice,” though in some ways a ramshackle cartoon of a movie, had a force at work in it. You might say that “Beetlejuice” was a vibe. The vision of the afterlife as a waiting room of wax-museum horrors; the moment when those shrimp leapt off the plate in the spectacular “Day-o” musical demonic-possession sequence; and Michael Keaton’s feral, jabbering, Groucho-Marx-meets-oozing-derelict performance as Beetlejuice...

As beloved as Tim Burton’s original 1988 classic “Beetlejuice” may be, no one could accuse the film of having much in the way of deep human emotions. It was a vibes movie with a transfixing level of world-building, the imagination to rewrite the rules of life and death, and the funny bone to merge both realms for a calypso dance sequence. It became a legacy credit for actors Geena Davis, Catherina O’Hara, and Winona Ryder, not to mention the decaying bio-exorcist at the undead heart of it all: Michael Keaton.
After several abortive attempts at a sequel over the intervening decades, director Tim Burton has — with a few exceptions — reassembled his original core squad, including composer Danny Elfman. To the mix, he has added a perfectly-chosen menage of new names and pulled off a maturation of the two-for-one world he once built from the waiting room of the Afterlife...

The theme song for "Gilligan's Island" was written by executive producer and show creator Sherwood Schwartz and songwriter George Wyle. It remains, without contest, one of the best TV theme songs of all time, efficiently communicating the show's premise and all seven of its characters, wrapped in one of the most insidious earworms ever recorded. Only the theme to "The Brady Bunch" can rival its cultural power. Only Jack Marshall's theme to "The Munsters" and Danny Elfman's theme to "Tales from the Crypt" can surpass it musically.
It may be shocking to learn, then, that the sea shanty version we all known and love was the second theme attempted. The original theme song had a calypso beat and different lyrics. Incidentally, the original was penned by music legend John Williams. Schwartz himself sang the theme song, although one would be forgiven for thinking it was voice luminary Mel Blanc.

Actress Jenna Ortega is reportedly not a Star Wars fan. The Wednesday star recently appeared on Jimmy Fallon’s talk show where she was asked to rank classic movie scores. While she approved Danny Elfman’s scores, John Williams’ iconic Star Wars theme seemed to be on the bottom half of the list.
Ortega worked with Tim Burton, who frequently collaborates with Elfman, on the Netflix show Wednesday and the upcoming Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. The actress also mentioned that she had more nostalgic value for John Williams’ Jurassic Park than for his Star Wars work.

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice: First Clips Make It Clear That The Ghost With The Most Hasn't Changed A Bit
Tim Burton's Beetlejuice sequel arrives in theaters next month, and Warner Bros. has released the first two clips from the movie online.
The first drops us in on a family reunion between Delia Deetz (Catherine O'Hara), daughter Lydia (Winona Ryder) and her kid Astrid (Jenna Ortega), who have returned to Winter River after the death of patriarch Charles (played by Jeffrey Jones in the original movie).
The next clip spotlights the Ghost with the Most himself (Michael Keaton), who is clearly still carrying a torch for Lydia - who was only 17 when they met.
This has always been one of the creepier plot points in the first movie, but anyone under the assumption that the lecherous Bio-Exorcist will be "evolving" with the times might be in for a bit of a shock.
"My whole career, there have always been people, like, 'This is too dark, which I never saw my films as dark,...

Henry Selick, the director of The Nightmare Before Christmas, says that he has hidden Jack Skellington’s in every one of his films.
The filmmaker recently revealed that he has left Easter Eggs for fans in all of his movies.
“If you look very, very carefully, you might find that there’s some image of Jack in every other film I’ve made. But I can’t legally say that’s true, but it might be true,” Selick said in an interview with GamesRadar+.
The Coraline director pointed fans to a scene from the film, adding, “You might find something in the breakfast.” GamesRadar+ noted the scene from the 2009 film when The Other Mother cracks an egg into a bowl; the yolk has a familiar face.
Other examples include 1996’s James and the Giant Peach, in which the captain of a gang of skeletal pirates looks like Jack and is referred to as Skellington.

There have been Stephen King movies almost as long as there have been Stephen King books. King's first novel "Carrie" hit bookshelves in 1974, and by 1976, a film adaptation from director Brian De Palma was in theaters. While there are a few outliers, the vast majority of King's novels and a good chunk of his short stories have been adapted to the screen. And over the years, folks have asked King to comment on his favorites. The titles seem to change from time to time, but in 2014, King sat down for an all-encompassing interview with Rolling Stone, and during the course of the interview, he was asked to name the "best movie ever made" from one of his books. In turn, King provided a brief list of what he considers to be his favorite movie adaptations. A few years later, he added one more title to that list. So here are the best Stephen King movies,...

Since the start of the 2010s, each of Eminem’s albums has served as an extended feedback loop. Defined by their near total refusal to engage with contemporary musical trends, they’re bloated, insular, and largely meta in nature, focusing on how hard it is for Em, now well over two decades into his career, to come up with new things to say. And how, when he tries something new, everyone hates it. And how, when he doesn’t try something new, people still hate it. And, of course, how he’s the greatest to ever do it and the haters need to shut it.
Eminem’s 12th studio album, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce), offers an ostensible twist: Its first half is performed by Slim Shady, an alter ego that’s been killed off several times already, while the second half features Eminem just being himself.

With just a couple of months left before Tim Burton and Michael Keaton's long-awaited Beetlejuice Beetlejuice arrives in theaters, DC Comics has shared a slew of variant covers featuring the chaotic "bio-exorcist" invading the DC Universe.
These will begin rolling out next month and feature the sequel's title character crossing paths with the likes of Superman, Wonder Woman, and Harley Quinn.
However, the cover which has received the most attention is Beetlejuice looming large over Batman; it's not just any version of the Dark Knight, though! As we're sure you'll notice, that's the Batman played by Keaton in Burton's Batman and Batman Returns.
Here's when and where you'll find each of these variant covers:
Gotham City Sirens #2 - August 13 House of Secrets #92 (2024 Facsimile Edition) - August 21 Nightwing #117 - August 21 Superman #17 - August 21 Wonder Woman #12 - August 21 Batman #152 - September 4
After an unexpected family tragedy, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice sees three...

Danny Elfman Sued For Defamation By Composer Who Previously Sued Him For Sexual Misconduct – Reports
Composer Nomi Abadi has filed suit for defamation against composer Danny Elfman, according to media reports
In the Los Angeles Superior Court suit, Abadi claims statements Elfman made to Rolling Stone last year “peddled appalling lies for publication to Rolling Stone about Nomi.”
The statements made by Elfman and his representatives dismissed Abadi’s allegations of sexual misconduct. Instead, the complaint claims Elfman and his team depicted Abadi as “a scorned woman seeking revenge and money to make Elfman ‘pay for having rejected her.’”
Attorney Eric George filed the defamation suit today on behalf of Abadi, as reported by Rolling Stone and several other media outlets.
Elfman’s statements were part of a Rolling Stone story published in July 2023. That story said that Elfman had a previously unreported settlement and nondisclosure agreement with Abadi. She accused him of multiple instances of sexual harassment and misconduct. Elfman denied those allegations.

Composer Nomi Abadi is suing “Batman” and “Beetlejuice” composer Danny Elfman for defamation stemming from statements he made to Rolling Stone last year that were included in an investigative piece about a settlement he made with his one-time protégé after she accused him of repeated sexual harassment and misconduct.
Abadi’s lawsuit, filed Wednesday in Los Angeles Superior Court, alleges that Elfman “peddled appalling lies for publication to Rolling Stone about Nomi.” The list of alleged lies covers statements made by the “Simpsons” composer and his representatives that claimed he did not engage in sexual misconduct toward Abadi, never masturbated in front of her, never touched her inappropriately and “never placed his bodily fluids in a martini glass he presented to Nomi,” as she alleged. The complaint also slammed Elfman and his team for depicting Abadi as “a scorned woman seeking revenge and money to make Elfman “pay for having...

Film composer Danny Elfman was sued for defamation on Wednesday over statements he made to Rolling Stone last year in an article detailing sexual harassment allegations leveled against him and a subsequent settlement and nondisclosure agreement to keep the claims private.
Los Angeles composer Nomi Abadi’s defamation suit — filed in Los Angeles — comes a year after a Rolling Stone investigation first revealed her allegations that Elfman exposed himself and sexually harassed her in 2016, before she and Elfman entered into an $830,000 settlement and NDA a year later.
