Director's Cut: 1 hour & 55 minutes
Theatrical Cut: 1 hour & 24 minutes
The film underwent numerous studio-mandated recuts and a reshoot of the original ending due to negative test screenings. Many of the cuts were to scenes providing plot and character development. After the first test audience screening.... David Nutter cut the backstory for Steve's brother Allen.... as well as a love scene between Steve and Rachel. When the film again tested below studios’ expectations.... MGM proceeded to take full control of the film and hired another editor.... George Folsey Jr.... to make further cuts. Nutter was instructed to shoot a new ending in which the character of Gavin survives.... as test audiences had disliked the plot line where Gavin dies. Cuts made to the film were so severe that Nutter considered having his name removed from the credits.... but decided not to out of respect for his cast and crew.
Director David Nutter said he envisioned the film as an atmospheric X-FILES-style thriller.... but the studio wanted a SCREAM-style teen horror. He commented ---- "Their attitude was 'Let’s just get to the fright beats.' They felt teenagers wouldn’t sit through a picture that was more than 90 minutes." The studio ultimately cut 31 minutes' worth of film from Nutter's 115-minute version.... resulting in an 84-minute theatrical cut. The United States cable networks Syfy Universal and Comet have been known to air a somewhat unofficial director's cut of the film.... with the deleted scenes reinstated.... although the film is still shown with the theatrical ending. Although a director's cut was never released.... there has been online circulation of fan edit versions which use the DVD's deleted scenes including the film's original ending. - DirectorChad StahelskiStarsKeanu ReevesLaurence FishburneGeorge GeorgiouJohn Wick uncovers a path to defeating The High Table. But before he can earn his freedom, Wick must face off against a new enemy with powerful alliances across the globe and forces that turn old friends into foes.
Assembly Cut: 3 hours & 45 minutes
Theatrical Cut: 2 hours & 50 minutes
The director.... Chad Stahelski had this to say about the longer cut. ---- “I think there's probably like 15 minutes just for enjoyment for me.... I'd probably put back in. It was more world-building. But I think the movie we released is absolutely the best version of everything we've tried.... and we tried all kinds of different stuff just to proof check it. I think this is the best version.... but there are cool little scenes that just didn't make it. With Keanu in Berlin.... he finds guns. That's why there's this whole Berlin part.... and there's a lot more club fight.... there's a lot more Arc de Triomphe.... a lot more. I think there are some pretty funny scenes I think that we did that will probably get released at some point. I don't know if it'll be part of another cut.... but I don't know.... we'll see how we do.” - DirectorTaika WaititiStarsChris HemsworthNatalie PortmanChristian BaleThor enlists the help of Valkyrie, Korg and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster to fight Gorr the God Butcher, who intends to make the gods extinct.

Taika Waititi stated that he's always been disappointed by other director's cuts.... and that he would be hesitant to release one for THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER. With that being said.... a four-hour assembly cut exists.... which Chris Hemsworth called “batsh-t crazy”. Waititi elaborated further that ---- “Really, about five times.... it just gives up on the story and just like just for like 10 - 15 minutes of just telling jokes." - DirectorWalter HillStarsEddie MurphyNick NolteBrion JamesJack Cates once again enlists the aid of ex-con Reggie Hammond - this time to take down The Iceman, a ruthless drug lord operating in the San Francisco bay area.

Theatrical Cut: 1 hour & 33 minutes
The original workprint of ANOTHER 48 HRS. was 145 minutes long. Later.... it was cut down to 120 minutes by director Walter Hill. Paramount.... worried about TOTAL RECALL dominating the Summer box-office.... decided to cut an additional 25 minutes one week before the movie was released so that it could receive more showings. In total.... about 50 minutes were deleted from the original cut of the movie.... causing many plot holes and continuity errors. - DirectorDenis VilleneuveStarsTimothée ChalametRebecca FergusonZendayaA noble family becomes embroiled in a war for control over the galaxy's most valuable asset while its heir becomes troubled by visions of a dark future.Assembly Cut: 4 - 6 hours

Almost 40 minutes of footage had been trimmed from the final cut.... which included an entire subplot which Bruce Wayne suffered amnesia from the bullet to the head from Two-Face. The story would've had Bruce Wayne dive deep into his psyche to confront his alter ego. Schumacher stated that he would've liked to piece together a director’s cut of the film.... but he has sadly since passed. - DirectorWoody AllenStarsWoody AllenDiane KeatonTony RobertsAlvy Singer, a divorced Jewish comedian, reflects on his relationship with ex-lover Annie Hall, an aspiring nightclub singer, which ended abruptly just like his previous marriages.

Most of the battle scenes were trimmed as a result.... as well as some of the storylines for some of the characters. - DirectorDennis HopperStarsDennis HopperJodie FosterDean StockwellA witness to a mob assassination flees for her life, running from town to town and switching identities along the way, but she cannot seem to elude Milo, the chief hit man sent after her.

Director Dennis Hopper pieced together 3 hour cut of the film that he presented to the studio. Unfortunately.... the studio was so unhappy with the picture.... that they edited it down to just under two hours.... and even changing the title to CATCHFIRE without Hopper’s knowledge. The production team made the decision to cut and rework most of the movie.... without Orson Welles’ even knowing. Roughly 50 minutes of the film was cut out as a result.... with the ending being retooled to be much happier. - DirectorBaz LuhrmannStarsTom HanksAustin ButlerOlivia DeJongeThe life of American music icon Elvis Presley, from his childhood to becoming a rock and movie star in the 1950s while maintaining a complex relationship with his manager, Colonel Tom Parker.
Assembly Cut: 4 hours
Theatrical Cut: 2 hours & 39 minutes
When asked about the rumored four-hour long director's cut.... director Baz Luhrmann had this to say.
“It’s a four-hour director’s assembly.... it’s just like every single bit I shot and strung out in long.... long.... long scenes. It wasn’t just.... like.... hundreds of other scenes. It won’t be this year.... it won’t be next year.... but I am about to do on Hulu a show called Faraway Downs with ‘Australia’ reimagined with no new footage. It’s all of the footage I did shoot.... but with new music I did with a lot of indigenous performers and singers. And there’s definitely some big plot changes and developments. It’s a variation of the same work. It’s not gonna happen this year.... but one thing I can tell you is that the performance sequences that Austin [Butler] did are very much longer than they are in the movie.... and there are some he did that aren’t in the movie.... and even just releasing those maybe extended is something I was considering. Can I see a day where an extended.... reimagined version like Faraway Downs comes to streaming? Yes.... I could imagine that." - DirectorDavid McNallyStarsAnthony AndersonJerry O'ConnellEstella WarrenTwo childhood friends, a hairstylist and a would-be musician, are forced to deliver $50,000 in mob money to Australia, but things go haywire when the cash is taken by a wild kangaroo.

Upon completion.... the rough cut.... without post-production effects.... ran over four hours long. David Lynch's intended cut (as reflected in the seventh and final draft of the script) was almost three hours long. However.... Universal Pictures.... and the movie's financiers expected a standard.... two-hour cut of the movie. To reduce the run time.... Dino De Laurentiis.... Raffaella De Laurentiis.... and Lynch excised numerous scenes.... filmed new scenes that simplified or concentrated plot elements.... and added voice-over narrations.... plus.... a new introduction by Virginia Madsen. - DirectorErich von StroheimStarsGibson GowlandZasu PittsJean HersholtThe sudden fortune won from a lottery fans such destructive greed that it ruins the lives of the three people involved.

Director Erich von Stroheim had over 9 hours of footage.... which he was forced to edit down to around 4 and a half hours.... without further compensation. He was then forced to cut down the film further to a runtime closer to the 2-hour mark. The studio then burned the unused film reels in order to extract the expensive silver nitrate from it for recycling. Although an extended version of the movie (239 minutes long) was created in 1999 by using still photographs in the place of scenes that were cut.... a complete version was simply not possible because most of the original film is now considered lost. - DirectorAlbert PyunStarsChristopher LambertNatasha HenstridgeNorbert WeisserA bioweapon leaks in Eastern Europe and spreads west. The major changes installed by Weinstein were resetting the film from Romania to Boston, U.S.A. and making the virus infection the principal plot device. The Romanian flag can still be seen on the characters' uniforms. Writer/director Albert Pyun stated in interviews that he intended to restore and release a 110-minutes Director's Cut of the film. Director Wes Craven began filming began in 2003.... but the project endured massive rewrites and reshoots. Frequent Wes Craven collaborator Patrick Lussier was brought on to work on the project.... which was nearing the end of its principal photography. According to Lussier.... the unfinished original version of the film ran about 90 minutes long.... and the only thing it was missing.... besides the ending.... was the score and all the visual effects.
The film endured a total of four re-shoots which ended in 2004. The film was then trimmed down to obtain a PG-13 rating and was eventually released theatrically in 2005. When the film premiered on DVD.... the two minutes that were removed to obtain the PG-13 rating were reinstated. Theatrical Cut: 1 hour & 36 minutes
Michael Mann's original cut of the movie was 210 minutes long. He was only allowed to have a two-hour-long movie. Test screenings of the two-hour cut were not positive.... so Paramount cut the movie down to 96 minutes.... against Mann's wishes. These last-minute cuts resulted in many plot holes.... continuity mistakes.... very obvious "jumps" in soundtrack and scenes.... and bad editing issues. Even the sound mixing of the movie could not be finished properly because of Paramount's interference which is why every version of the movie suffers from bad sound design. The original June 3, 1983 release date was pushed back to December 16 due to the many problems in post-production. - DirectorTom TykwerLana WachowskiLilly WachowskiStarsTom HanksHalle BerryHugh GrantAn exploration of how the actions of individual lives impact one another in the past, present and future, as one soul is shaped from a killer into a hero, and an act of kindness ripples across centuries to inspire a revolution.
Director's Cut: 3 hours & 45 minutes
Theatrical Cut: 2 hours & 52 minutes
Co-director Tom Tykwer stated in October 2012 that their first cut was 3 hours and 45 minutes. ---- "I don’t think we ended up even cutting a single scene.... it was just tightening the screws on it. The theatrical cut runs 2 hours and 52 minutes.... so I assume what was left on the cutting room floor were character moments.... and I'm curious how re-adding them would change the flow of the film. CLOUD ATLAS is already a triumph of editing in terms of its speed and movement.... so I wonder how adding in an extra hour would reshape the picture."
