  • Avalanche's Ondrej Pavel: Sustains injury at Rookie Faceoff

Pavel sustained an undisclosed injury at the Rookie Faceoff and is considered out "for now," Meghan Angley of Guerilla Sports reports.

Pavel doesn't have a specific timeline, but it doesn't appear to be a significant injury. The 24-year-old winger has played in just two NHL games, though he'll be in competition for a bottom-six spot once he's cleared to play preseason games.

  • Avalanche's Valeri Nichushkin: Timeline to return uncertain

Nichushkin (suspension) does not have a clear timeline to return to the Avalanche, Ryan Boulding of NHL.com reports.

Nichushkin is listed on the Avalanche's training camp roster, but he is not eligible to participate or play in regular-season games until mid-November. Head coach Jared Bednar said the team will have multiple meetings to address the situation ahead of the winger's reintegration with the club. Nichushkin remains in Stage 3 of the NHL/NHLPA Player Assistance Program.

  • Avalanche's Artturi Lehkonen: Not likely for preseason games

Lehkonen (shoulder) is not expected to be a full participant during training camp or preseason games, Evan Rawal of Colorado Hockey Now reports.

Per Ryan Boulding of NHL.com, Lehkonen will be ready to return shortly after he's cleared for contact. The winger is recovering from a shoulder surgery. While he may miss most or all of the preseason slate, he should be good to go for a second-line role once he's ready to play.

  • Avalanche's Gabriel Landeskog: No specific timeline to return

Landeskog (knee) does not have a specific timeline to return, Ryan Boulding of NHL.com reports.

Landeskog will make the final call for when he's ready to return, according to head coach Jared Bednar. The 31-year-old is not expected to be ready for the start of the regular season, but he could return from a two-year absence shortly after if his surgically repaired knee continues to hold up well during camp.

  • Avalanche's Jacob MacDonald: Ready to rock

MacDonald (undisclosed) participated in Colorado's informal skate Tuesday, Brennan Vogt of The-Rink.com reports.

MacDonald sat out the final three games of the 2023-24 regular season due to injury, but he will be available for the start of training camp. He signed a two-year contract with the Avalanche in July after producing seven goals, two assists, 49 shots on net and 40 hits in 34 regular-season appearances with the Sharks last campaign. The versatile MacDonald will compete for a depth spot in the Colorado lineup as a forward or a defenseman.

  • Avalanche's Artturi Lehkonen: Not ready to return

Lehkonen (shoulder) will not be able to participate fully at the start of training camp, John Matisz of The Score reports Friday.

Lehkonen underwent shoulder surgery in May and while he was skating with his teammates at the end of August, he is still considered iffy for the start of the 2024-25. Lehkonen had 16 goals and 34 points -- including seven goals and five assists on the power play -- in 45 regular-season appearances with the Avalanche in 2023-24.

  • Avalanche's Pierre-Edouard Bellemare: Earns tryout

Bellemare will join the Avalanche on a professional tryout agreement, RDS.ca reports Wednesday.

Bellemare returns to Colorado after three seasons away, having logged 122 regular-season appearances and notched 18 goals and 15 assists with the Avs over two years. At this point in his career, Bellemare shouldn't be expected to offer much in the way of fantasy value given his limited offensive upside and the fact that he may periodically serve as a healthy scratch -- especially once Gabriel Landeskog (knee) and Valeri Nichushkin (suspension) return to the lineup.

  • Avalanche's Artturi Lehkonen: Participating in informal skates

Lehkonen (shoulder) took the ice with teammates ahead of training camp, Brennan Vogt of The-Rink.com reports Thursday.

Lehkonen looks poised to return from a shoulder injury that required surgery back in May. It's possible the 29-year-old winger will still miss the first preseason game against the Stars on Sept. 23 given his lengthy layoff, but all signs point to him being ready for Opening Night. In addition to a top-six role, Lehkonen should also feature with the No. 1 power-play unit -- at least until Gabriel Landeskog (knee) is given the all-clear.

  • Avalanche's Oskar Olausson: Skating with teammates

Olausson (shoulder) was on the ice for an informal workout ahead of training camp, Brennan Vogt of The-Rink.com reports Thursday.

Olausson underwent shoulder surgery back in February, which ended his 2023-24 campaign. As a result, the 2021 first-round pick saw action in just 39 minor-league contests with the Eagles in which he generated 11 goals and nine helpers. In addition, Olausson managed only one NHL outing against Anaheim on Dec. 5, recording two shots on goal, two hits and two blocked shots in 11:50 of ice time. Even with Olausson fully fit, he will face an uphill battle during camp to secure a spot on the Opening Night roster.

  • Avalanche's Logan O'Connor: Ready for camp

O'Connor (hip) will hit the ground running when training camp opens, telling reporters Wednesday, "I was skating mid-June, so it gave me lots of runway before this season to sort of ramp it up and be feeling good come camp," per Brennan Vogt of The-Rink.com.

O'Connor has reached the 20-point threshold in each of the last three seasons, including last year when he was limited to just 57 regular-season contests but set a new personal best with 13 goals. Assuming he can stay healthy for the entirety of the 2024-25 campaign, he could top the 30-point mark for the first time in his five-year NHL career.

  • Avalanche's Gabriel Landeskog: Might return early in 2024-25

Landeskog (knee) isn't likely to be available Oct. 9 for Colorado's regular-season opener, but he might play not long after that, per Tom Gulitti of NHL.com on Saturday.

Landeskog has been skating over the summer, and while there's no timetable for his return, coach Jared Bednar said there's increasing optimism that the Avalanche captain won't have to go too deep into the 2024-25 campaign before making his season debut. Landeskog hasn't played since June 26, 2022, but before experiencing injury issues, he was an elite forward. After shaking off some rust, he could produce at about a point-per-game pace while serving in a top-six capacity and working on the first power-play unit.

Mandolese is likely to spend most of 2024-25 with AHL Colorado, though he has three games of NHL experience and could see some time with the big club if Alexandar Georgiev or Justus Annunen are sidelined at any point.

Aamodt inked a one-year, two-way contract with Colorado on Tuesday.

Aamodt has spent the last two seasons playing with AHL Colorado on a minor-league-only deal. It appears that was enough to convince the Avs to offer the blueliner a two-way deal, which could see him earn an NHL call-up for the first time in his career. Still, Aamodt figures to play the bulk of his games with the Eagles this upcoming season.
