  • Hurricanes' Skylar Brind'Amour: Signs PTO with Hurricanes

Brind'Amour signed a professional tryout agreement with the Hurricanes on Thursday, CardiacCane.com reports.

Brind'Amour spent the 2023-24 campaign with AHL Charlotte, finding the back of the net three times, while adding five assists in 54 appearances. Brind'Amour was drafted in the sixth round,177th overall by Edmonton in 2017, but he never signed after finishing his senior year with Quinnipiac University after the 2022-23 season.

  • Hurricanes' Riley Stillman: Absent from injury report

Stillman (lower body) was not listed among the injured players Tuesday ahead of training camp.

After going unqualified by the Sabres in the offseason, Stillman nabbed a two-way deal from the Hurricanes. The 26-year-old blueliner's best hope would be to snag the seventh defenseman spot during training camp, but he will face stiff competition for that role from Scott Morrow and Joakim Ryan. Even if Stillman is on the Opening Night roster, he almost certainly figures to split his time between the NHL and AHL this season.

  • Hurricanes' Rocco Grimaldi: In camp on tryout

Grimaldi signed a professional tryout agreement with Carolina, Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site reports Tuesday.

Grimaldi hasn't made an NHL appearance since the 2021-22 campaign when he logged seven games for the Predators. Still, the veteran winger impressed with AHL Chicago last year, tallying 36 goals and 37 assists in 72 outings with the Wolves. If he can show even glimpses of that scoring touch during camp, Grimaldi should have a decent shot at earning at least a two-way deal from Carolina.

  • Hurricanes' Sam Gagner: Secures tryout

Gagner will take part in training camp with Carolina on a professional tryout agreement, Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site reports Tuesday.

Gagner saw action in just 28 regular-season games for the Oilers last year and was a healthy scratch throughout the postseason. If he does earn a full NHL contract coming out of camp, he figures to slot into a fourth-line role and could find himself periodically serving as a healthy scratch. As such, Gagner is unlikely to offer much in terms of fantasy value this season.

  • Hurricanes' Justin Poirier: Listed as injured

Poirier is listed as injured on Carolina's initial training camp roster Tuesday.

Poirier -- who was selected by the Hurricanes in the fifth round of the 2024 NHL Draft -- figures to be a long shot to make the roster coming out of camp. The 18-year-old winger has shown plenty of offensive upside while playing for QMJHL Baie-Comeau, racking up 51 goals and 31 assists last year. With the injury concern, Poirier almost certainly will head back to juniors for the upcoming 2024-25 campaign but should be on fantasy players' radars in dynasty and keeper formats.

  • Hurricanes' Seth Jarvis: Signs eight-year extension

Jarvis inked an eight-year, $63.2 million contract with the Hurricanes on Saturday.

The 22-year-old forward had a career-best 33 goals and 34 assists in 81 regular-season games with the Hurricanes last season. He continued his outstanding play in the playoffs with five goals and nine points in 11 appearances. Jarvis will start the season on the top line, alongside Sebastian Aho and Andrei Svechnikov, as well as the first power-play unit and could hit the 80-point mark in 2024-25.

  • Hurricanes' Jesper Fast: Won't play in 2024-25

Fast underwent surgery to repair his injured neck Aug. 6 and will miss the entirety of the 2024-25 campaign.

Fast has been out of the lineup since the regular-season finale against Columbus on April 16, missing the Hurricanes' entire postseason run. Now, it seems the 32-year-old winger will not be an option this year as well after needing to go under the knife. The Swede missed the 20-point threshold last year by just one point and likely would have been in contention to get back to challenging for 30 this year. Without Fast in the lineup, expect him to be placed on long-term injured reserve. His absence should make a roster spot available for Bradly Nadeau, Jackson Blake or Tyson Jost to begin 2024-25.

  • Hurricanes' Martin Necas: Signs bridge deal

Necas, a restricted free agent, agreed to terms on a two-year, $13 million contract with Carolina on Monday.

Necas was unable to replicate his 2022-23 campaign, failing to reach even the 60-point threshold after having racked up 71 points the year before. Still, the 25-year-old center has back-to-back 50-plus point seasons and has surpassed the 20-goal mark in each of the last two years. This new deal will see Necas hit the open market after the 2025-26 season when he will likely be looking for a long-term contract.

  • Hurricanes' Jack Drury: Inks two-year deal

Drury signed a two-year, $3.45 million contract with the Hurricanes on Wednesday, per Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet.

Drury was a restricted free agent after completing his entry-level contract. He had eight goals, 27 points and 33 PIM in 74 regular-season contests with Carolina in 2023-24. Drury is likely to open the upcoming season as a member of the third line.

  • Hurricanes' Dominik Badinka: Agrees to entry-level contract

Badinka signed a three-year, entry-level contract with Carolina on Sunday.

Badinka produced one goal and three assists in 33 regular-season contests for SHL Malmo in 2023-24. The Hurricanes selected the 18-year-old blueliner with the No. 34 overall pick in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft. Badinka is expected to continue to hone his skills in Sweden during the 2024-25 campaign.

  • Hurricanes' Joakim Ryan: Inks one-year deal

Ryan signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Hurricanes on Sunday.

Ryan has compiled 17 goals and 47 assists in 156 regular-season contests for the Malmo Redhawks of the SHL across the past three campaigns. The 31-year-old defender has four goals and 24 points in 145 career NHL appearances. Ryan will compete for a depth spot with the Hurricanes out of training camp but could spend most of 2024-25 in the minors.

  • Hurricanes' Josiah Slavin: Lands two-year deal

Slavin signed a two-year, two-way contract with Carolina on Sunday.

Slavin registered 10 goals and 24 points in 70 regular-season contests with AHL Toronto in 2023-24. The 25-year-old forward has one assist in 15 career NHL contests. Slavin will likely spend most of the 2024-25 campaign in the minors, so he may not get the opportunity to play in the same lineup as his older brother, Jaccob, in the big league.

  • Hurricanes' Jack Roslovic: Signs with Hurricanes

Roslovic inked a one-year, $2.8 million contract with the Hurricanes on Thursday.

Roslovic split the 2023-24 campaign between Columbus and the Rangers, picking up 31 points in 59 regular-season games. Roslovic had a pair of goals and six assists in 16 playoff games for the Rangers. He should play in a middle-six role for Carolina in 2024-25.

  • Hurricanes' Riley Stillman: Secures two-way deal

Stillman (lower body) agreed to terms on a one-year, two-way contract with Carolina on Wednesday.

Stillman has already logged NHL games with four different franchises in his career but spent the entirety of the 2023-24 season in the minors with AHL Rochester. While the 26-year-old blueliner should be on the list of call-ups during the season, he is unlikely to crack the Opening Night roster for the Hurricanes, especially after the organization brought in Shayne Gostisbehere and Sean Walker in free agency.

  • Hurricanes' Sean Walker: Makes five-year commitment

Walker signed a five-year, $18 million contract with the Hurricanes on Monday.

Walker had 10 goals, 29 points, 50 PIM, 116 hits and 127 blocked shots across 81 regular-season games between Philadelphia and Colorado in 2023-24. The 29-year-old might serve in a top-four capacity with Carolina, but he probably won't get much ice time on the power play, as Brent Burns and Shayne Gostisbehere figure to handle those duties.

  • Hurricanes' Shayne Gostisbehere: Agrees to three-year deal

Gostisbehere signed a three-year, $9.6 million contract with the Hurricanes, Pierre LeBrun of The Athletic reports Monday.

Gostisbehere scored 10 goals and 56 points in 81 regular-season contests in 2023-24 for Detroit. He's a great asset on the power play, supplying two goals and 29 points with the man advantage last season. Gostisbehere will probably be limited to a third-pairing role at even strength, but Carolina is expected to take advantage of his abilities on the power play.

  • Hurricanes' Tyson Jost: Inks one-year contract

Jost signed a one-year, $775,000 contract with the Hurricanes on Monday, according to Darren Dreger of TSN.

Jost had three goals, six points and 44 hits in 43 appearances with the Sabres in 2023-24. He might make the Hurricanes' roster out of training camp, but the 26-year-old will likely be a frequent healthy scratch.
