  • Sabres' Rasmus Dahlin: Expected to miss two days

Dahlin (undisclosed) is expected to sit out only a couple of days after he was injured during practice Wednesday, Heather Engel of NHL.com reports.

Dahlin is doing well according to coach Lindy Ruff. The talented bleuliner had 20 goals and 59 points in 81 regular-season games last year, which was a drop from 2022-23 when he managed 73 points in 78 games as a 22 year old. Dahlin should be a top-five pick among defensemen in most fantasy drafts this season.

  • Sabres' Rasmus Dahlin: Hurt during practice

Dahlin left Wednesday's practice before its conclusion due to an undisclosed injury, per Lance Lysowski of The Buffalo News.

Dahlin was hurt while attempting to make a pass. It's not known yet how significant the injury is, but Dahlin is a huge part of Buffalo's blue line, so if he misses time in the regular season, that would naturally leave a significant hole for the Sabres to deal with. In that scenario, Henri Jokiharju might see an increase in even-strength ice time while Bowen Byram or Owen Power would move up to the first power-play unit.

  • Sabres' Mattias Samuelsson: Full participant Wednesday

Samuelsson (shoulder) was a full go for Wednesday's training camp session, Lance Lysowski of The Buffalo News reports.

Samuelsson started skating before the season started back in April, so it shouldn't come as a surprise that he has recovered from his shoulder problem. The 24-year-old blueliner was limited to just 41 games last year and struggled offensively even when he was healthy. In all, the Philadelphia native managed just one goal and six helpers and was mired in a 35-game goal drought when his season ended due to his shoulder problem. Even if he can stay healthy, Samuelsson doesn't offer enough offense to warrant taking in most re-draft formats, though he has shown a physical edge and could help in both hits and blocks.

  • Sabres' Peyton Krebs: Secures two-year deal

Krebs inked a two-year, $2.9 million contract with Buffalo on Tuesday.

Krebs is coming off a disappointing 2023-24 season in which he failed to reach the 20-point mark for just the first time in his three-year NHL career. The 23-year-old center needed to get a new deal done before the start of training camp after his entry-level contract expired July 1. Even with his contract in hand, the Calgary native may struggle to find consistent ice time following the offseason additions of Jason Zucker, Sam Lafferty and Ryan McLeod.

  • Sabres' Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen: Receives five-year contract

Luukkonen signed a five-year, $23.75 million contract with the Sabres on Wednesday.

Luukkonen was slated for an arbitration hearing, but the two sides were able to reach an agreement on their own. The 25-year-old netminder had a breakout 2023-24 campaign, going 27-22-4 with a 2.57 GAA and a .910 save percentage in 54 contests. While the Sabres also have Devon Levi around, Luukkonen appears set to be the team's No. 1 goalie for a majority of the remainder of this decade.

  • Sabres' Beck Malenstyn: Secures two-year pact

Malenstyn and the Sabres agreed to terms on a two-year, $2.7 million contract Tuesday, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.

Malenstyn was brought in via trade by Buffalo from Washington before the 2024 NHL Draft but needed to agree to new terms as a restricted free agent. Last season, the 26-year-old natural center saw action in 81 games for the Caps in which he generated six goals and 15 assists, all career bests. He figures to slot into a bottom-six role for the Sabres this year and likely has a ceiling in the 25-30-point range.

  • Sabres' Konsta Helenius: Signs entry-level contract

Helenius signed a three-year, entry-level contract with Buffalo on Monday.

Helenius notched 14 goals and 36 points in 51 regular-season contests for Jukurit of Finland's Liiga in 2023-24. He also added two tallies and four helpers in six playoff outings. The Sabres selected the 18-year-old forward with the No. 14 overall pick in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft. After being loaned to Jukurit for the past two seasons, Helenius is projected to play for Tappara in Finland's top league during the upcoming campaign.

  • Sabres' Henri Jokiharju: Re-signs Friday

Jokiharju signed a one-year, $3.1 million contract with the Sabres on Friday.

Jokiharju was a restricted free agent after completing his three-year, $7.5 million deal. He had three goals, 20 points, a plus-14 rating, 92 hits and 106 blocks in 74 outings in 2023-24. He'll likely serve in a top-four capacity during the upcoming campaign.

  • Sabres' Tyler Tullio: Getting change of scenery

Tullio was acquired by the Sabres from the Oilers along with Ryan McLeod on Friday in exchange for Matthew Savoie, per Jason Gregor of Sports 1440 Edmonton.

Tullio had nine goals and 21 points in 54 regular-season contests with AHL Bakersfield in 2023-24. Edmonton took him with the No. 126 overall pick in the 2020 NHL Draft. Tullio will likely start the 2024-25 campaign in the minors.

  • Sabres' Ryan McLeod: Involved in trade

McLeod was acquired by the Sabres from the Oilers along with Tyler Tullio on Friday in exchange for Matthew Savoie, according to Jason Gregor of Sports 1440 Edmonton.

Edmonton was presumably looking to clear McLeod's $2.1 million cap hit for the 2024-25 campaign despite the 24-year-old holding his own last campaign. McLeod had 12 goals and 30 points across 81 regular-season contests, but he was likely to be relegated to the fourth line for 2024-25 after Edmonton re-signed Adam Henrique and brought in free agents Viktor Arvidsson and Jeff Skinner. McLeod might earn a role on Buffalo's third unit.

  • Sabres' Colton Poolman: Inks one-year contract

Poolman signed a one-year, two-way contract with Buffalo on Tuesday.

Poolman chipped in three goals and three assists across 66 regular-season outings with AHL Calgary in 2023-24. The 28-year-old defender doesn't have any NHL experience. Poolman will likely begin the 2024-25 campaign in the minors.

  • Sabres' James Reimer: Signs one-year deal

Reimer inked a one-year, $1 million contract with Buffalo on Tuesday.

The 36-year-old Reimer will join an extremely young goalie group that includes Devon Levi (22), Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen (25) and recently signed Felix Sandstrom (27). Barring some standout performances in training camp, Reimer figures to enter the year as the No. 2 option behind Luukkonen, though he could be shipped down to the minors to serve as an emergency depth option as well.

  • Sabres' Felix Sandstrom: Signs two-way pact

Sandstrom agreed to terms on a one-year, two-way contract with the Sabres on Monday.

Sandstrom has struggled at the NHL level, going 4-18-4 with a 3.66 GAA and .880 save percentage in 30 games while with the Flyers over the last three years. With Philadelphia moving in a different direction after signing Ivan Fedotov to compete with Samuel Ersson, the 27-year-old Sandstrom joins a Sabres organization that is significantly less certain when it comes to the goaltending position. Sandstrom will almost certainly start the year in the minors but could get called up if he can prove himself with AHL Rochester.

  • Sabres' Jack Rathbone: Secures one-year deal

Rathbone signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Sabres on Monday.

Rathbone had nine goals and 25 points across 69 AHL regular-season contests between Abbotsford and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton last year. The 25-year-old also has two goals and five points in 28 career NHL appearances. He'll likely spend most of 2024-25 with AHL Rochester but could push for an NHL job in training camp.

  • Sabres' Brett Murray: Re-ups with club for another year

Murray signed a one-year, two-way contract with Buffalo on Monday.

For the third straight year, Murray has agreed to a one-year, two-way contract with the Sabres at the start of free agency. Those contracts haven't turned into NHL opportunities, as the 25-year-old winger has logged just two games with Buffalo over the last two seasons. As such, fantasy managers should expect Murray to continue serving as a depth player with AHL Rochester.

  • Sabres' Mason Jobst: Agrees to one-year contract

Jobst signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Sabres on Monday.

Jobst had 22 goals and 50 points in 64 regular-season contests with AHL Rochester in 2023-24. The 30-year-old has never played at the NHL level.

  • Sabres' Josh Dunne: Inks two-way agreement

Dunne signed a two-year, two-way contract with the Sabres on Monday.

Dunne had two goals and seven points in 25 regular-season contests with AHL Cleveland in 2023-24. The 25-year-old is unlikely to play for the Sabres in the upcoming campaign, and he has yet to record a point over 14 NHL appearances with Columbus.

  • Sabres' Dennis Gilbert: Agrees to one-year contract

Gilbert signed a one-year, $825,000 contract with the Sabres on Monday.

Gilbert had a goal, seven points, 59 hits and 49 blocked shots in 34 appearances with the Flames in 2023-24. The 27-year-old has a real shot of making the Sabres' roster out of training camp, but even if Gilbert makes the team, he probably won't play much for Buffalo.

  • Sabres' Jacob Bryson: Inks one-year pact

Bryson signed a one-year, $900,000 contract with Buffalo on Monday.

Bryson played in a mere 36 games for Buffalo last season, notching one goal, seven assists and 15 shots on net while averaging 14:41 of ice time. The 26-year-old blueliner is far from a lock for the lineup on a nightly basis and could spend significant chunks of the season serving as a healthy scratch.
