If your website is missing the default plugins and themes that came with your plan, you may restore them by clicking a button. This guide explains what this button does and why you may wish to use it.
This feature is available on sites with the WordPress.com Business and Commerce plans, and the legacy Pro plan. If you have a Business plan, make sure to activate it. For sites on the Free, Personal, and Premium plans, upgrade your plan to access this feature.
When you upgrade to a plugin-enabled plan, we add the following useful plugins to the site:
- WordPress.com Editing Toolkit
- Layout Grid
- Page Optimize
- AMP (if the upgrade was before June 13th, 2022)
- CoBlocks (if the upgrade was before October 26th, 2021)
You are, of course, free to deactivate or even delete these themes and plugins, with the exception of Jetpack and Akismet, which cannot be deactivated. However, we also understand if you accidentally deleted plugins or themes initially added to your site and are now looking to restore them.
To restore the plugins and themes that came with your plan, take the following steps:
- Visit your Sites list in the dashboard.
- Click on the site title in the list of your sites.
- Navigate to the Server Settings (in Default View) or Hosting → Overview → Server Settings (in WP-Admin View).
- Scroll down to the “Restore plugins and themes” section.
- Click the button that says “Restore plugins and themes for my website’s plan“. Your request will be processed within a few minutes.
