‘Harry Potter’ (TV Series)

A currently untitled TV series based on J.K. Rowling's “Harry Potter” books is set to debut on HBO in 2026. Per HBO, "The series will feature a new cast to lead a new generation of fandom, full of the fantastic detail and much-loved characters ‘Harry Potter’ fans have loved for over twenty-five years. Each season will bring ‘Harry Potter’ and these incredible adventures to new audiences around the world, while the original, classic and cherished films will remain at the core of the franchise and available to watch globally." The show was ordered in April 2023 as a streaming-only show for HBO Max, which was later renamed Max, and shifted to an HBO original series, which will air on linear TV and stream on Max, in June 2024. Francesca Gardiner ("Succession") will serve as showrunner on the "Harry Potter" TV series and Mark Mylod ("Game of Thrones) is set to direct multiple episodes, as well as executive produce. Other exec producers include Rowling, Neil Blair, and Ruth Kenley-Letts of Brontë Film and TV, and David Heyman of Heyday Films. A casting search is currently underway for the new leads.
