See Torres for other articles with titles that contain, either by relationship or by coincidence, this character's surname.
For the mirror universe counterpart, see John Torres (mirror).

John Torres was a Human male who lived during the 24th century. He was the father of B'Elanna Torres and the former husband of Miral Torres. He married Miral despite his mother's reservations, and for a few years the marriage was a happy one. However, the strain of living with two Klingons began to get the better of John, and when B'Elanna was five years old, he left her and her mother, something for which B'Elanna blamed herself. (VOY episodes: "Eye of the Needle", "Lineage", "Faces")

He had a brother named Carl, two nephews named Michael and Dean, and a niece named Elizabeth. (VOY episode: "Lineage")

In the 2370s, he resided in Mexico. (VOY novel: Pathways)

A few weeks prior to stardate 54740.8, Torres had some business on Kessik IV, the planet on which his family used to reside, where he visited their old home. Shortly before her return to the Alpha Quadrant in 2377, John got to talk to B'Elanna via subspace, for the first time in twenty years, in the hopes of reestablishing a relationship with his daughter. Although she was initially reluctant to speak with him, her husband Tom Paris convinced her to do so. (VOY episode: "Author, Author")
