This is a truly glorious ride from start to finish. It manages to be a great blockbuster action flick as well as a romantic comedy, musical and an anti-colonialist historical drama. There are some brilliantly executed and completely bonkers action sequences in this that are breathtaking, and yet I think my favourite sequence in the film was the dance-off at the colonial mansion. That sequence alone has more inventiveness than most mainstream tentpole movies. It’s long but never boring, and though there some of the heightened maximalism was a bit too ridiculous for me, it was an extremely fun watch.
