Kingdom of Heaven 2005
If Coster-Waldau had Bloom’s role this would be the greatest film of all time

The French Connection 1971
Maybe the definitive American film of the 1970s. All the grit, violence, and paranoia that would define the decade wrapped into one of the most tense thrillers ever filmed. Insane Hackman’s character is the namesake of a fried chicken food chain

Twixt 2011
Will have to watch the theatrical cut to confirm, but I suspect this is an instance of Coppola's retroactive alterations being for the worse. This is gorgeously imagined, but fundamentally ineloquent, and I suspect Coppola's ironic excising of the ending only further serves to muddle it. I do find myself wishing this had more maturity to its perspective. Coppola doesn't seem to have much interest in his dream world's romanticisation, bordering on fetishisation, of the young girls within it, leaving the film's reflections on the phantoms which linger within us feeling unjustly unexamined

Reagan 2024
i cannot emphasize enough how horrible this movie is… there’s a scene where reagan basically predicts 9/11. dennis quaid looks like he’s on the verge of cardiac arrest the whole time. no word of a lie the movie ends with the fall of the soviet union being announced to a cover version of sweet child of mine and a fast and furious 7 style shot of an alzheimers ridden reagan riding a horse off into the california sunset. everyone in the theatre clapped.

What's Up, Doc? 1972
this is the funniest movie i have ever seen. in awe of ryan o'neal's obession with rocks. in awe of barbra streisand being the most horny a character has ever been. in awe of madeleine kahn being the greatest foil ever. in awe of that chase scene. screwball comedies need to come back or im going to become violent.

Slow West 2015
“You don’t mind sharing your camp with a murderer?”
“Would be a lonely man if I did.”The land of opportunity is where the men with good hearts go to die. John Maclean is not from America, but his disdain for it and the foundation of blood it was built upon is extremely evident in every single frame. This is an anti-western in the sense that it is angry. Maclean's Old West is all thieves, murderers, and liars spilling eachother's…
