YRF’s spy universe gets an expansion with another over the top globe trotting action extravaganza. Its got your typical far fetched save the world storyline with exaggerated actions and serviceable twists. It’s a cocktail of MI, Bond, Oceans, Top Gun n many other movies, topped with some Indian patriotism. But what really makes it work is the swashbuckling Shah Rukh Khan-Deepika Padukone duo, along with menacing John Abraham. Salman’s cameo was perfectly timed n was easily the standout high moment. Don’t miss out on the end credits, pure meta fun vibe.
The physical combat fight sequences were terrifically choreographed, landing a solid impact, especially the 15 odd minute train fight sequence. At the same time, the ice chase and jetpack sequences were…
SRK: I know exactly what my fans want to see. Me as an ultra sexy eight-pack clad tough guy doing an all-out no brains action film!
Fans: One good film saaaar we beg of you 🤲🏻😫
my bi panic watching srk and deepika in their hottest avatars 🥵🥵🥵🥵
what i liked :
1. deepika with a gun
2. john abraham having a better intro shot than srk and being used to his full potential. this is actually his comeback more than SRK's lol
3. deepika trying to seduce srk 🥵🥵
4. deepika knocking out a random white girl
5. srk referencing vijay's beast (2022) by going to some african country ( that's how it's mentioned??) and asking arabs to speak in hindi.
6. Salman's first cameo.
7. second Salman's cameo with the meta references about how they're the last superstars.
8. the crisp and well executed screenplay that can distract you from the flaws
9. all…
When the sold-out Sunday matinee audience cheered Shah Rukh Khan‘s entrance, I knew I was in the right place. By the way, are they doing some Irishman magic to his body? How can a 57-year-old man look like this?
Insanely fun. Honestly I don’t expect to see a funner movie this year. Just packed to the gills with entertainment.
probably the only film where the hero, heroine and villain kick each other's asses and still look sexy as fuck.
me: “i honestly think i’m getting pretty comfortable in my identity as a lesbian. i’m not a big fan of labels but i definitely prefer women and i’m confident in that.”
shah rukh khan: *takes his shirt off*
me: “hm.”
A Passage to India: Dawn of the Wobble
BEST OF 2023 LIST
Not gonna lie, it was a bit of a jarring experience going from seeing SRK playing this charming, silly and sometimes a bit of an a—holes or Indian Forrest Gump to this ripped action star (NOTE: I watched this prior to Jawan). But I got used to very quickly, and this was such a blast (pun intended), though it lost some momentum around the third act when I started to notice the movie’s runtime (one of the shortest tbh at only 142 mins).
That being said, this film archives what other big tentpoles and TV shows from Netflix and Prime like Red Notice, Heart of Stone or Citadel…
Siddharth Anand delivers on his word. Pathaan is a FULL-BLOWN action entertainer. Sid throws everything at the screen in the most over-the-top, bombastic, unapologetically ridiculous sensory overload Bollywood spectacle imaginable, but it works really well.
Salman and SRK sequence goes above and beyond my expectations in the best way possible, it alone was worth the ticket price. And I did not go into Pathaan expecting to come out saying John Abraham is the MVP of the movie but here we are. He nailed it.
Also, the mid-credit scene gave me so much joy, I'd put it up there on top with any capeshit scene ever.
