Planet of the Vampires 1965
This is tough because the production design, costumes, sets… it’s gorgeous. There is just very little happening considering it’s about mind vampires and inspired Alien among other things. Something had to come first, and it happened to be this. Not a total loss, but we could’ve had a real classic if the plot and dialogue matched the design.

Kinds of Kindness 2024
Still a total riot. I can’t decide on a favourite story. It tickles me in all the right ways, and we get to see the first real Lanthimos horror film in the second tale. Anthology movies should all be so antagonistic.

Listen. There’s AI all over this in the cutaways and “we’ll be right back” network messages. For this reason I can’t enjoy the amazing performances and clever ending. It actually feels insulting when that skeleton message shows up repeatedly, like the filmmakers don’t give a shit and want to let you know that you’ll accept blatant AI in your 70s period piece. Don’t let this be the start of accepting this shit in your entertainment.
