Facing Unpleasant Girl's Insulting Taunts Isn't Very Enjoyable
Operation: F.U.G.I.T.I.V.E. is the second story in the seventh episode of Season 2 of Codename: Kids Next Door. It first aired on November 14, 2003 on Cartoon Network and was the first appearance of Numbuh 86 and Numbuh 362.

Summary[]
The KND try to find an escaped decommissioning prisoner at the DCFDTL's mansion, but the boys are brought down with Numbuh 86's yelling and complaining.
Plot[]
The episode begins with Numbuhs 58 and 59 of Kids Next Door Prison Transport Delta en route to the Moonbase for the decommissioning of 13-year-old Numbuh 206. Numbuh 59 decides to check on a suspiciously quiet Numbuh 206. He sees the prisoner ripping wires out of the wall, which result in the S.P.R.A.Y.S.H.I.P. engines exploding, causing the ship to lose altitude and fall back down to earth.
Back on earth, Sector V arrives at the crash site, which is at a deserted beach. Numbuh 1 exits the S.C.A.M.P.E.R. to observe. The rest of his team, Numbuhs 2-5, rush out of the ship in beach attire and begin having fun in the water and relaxing, much to Numbuh 1’s annoyance. Numbuh 2 and 4 were in the water, Numbuh 3 was building a sandcastle, and Numbuh 5 was lounging. While the Sector V leader begins scolding his team, Numbuh 86, Head of Decommissioning and Global Tactical Officer, lands on the beach, and in turn scolds Numbuh 1 for supposedly not taking the mission seriously. A bitter Numbuh 86 orders Numbuhs 2, 4, and 5 to search the wreckage for survivors.
They pull Numbuhs 58 and 59 from the wreckage. Numbuh 86 asks Numbuh 58 if they’re alright. When Numbuh 59 begins to talk, she shuts him up and immediately blames him for the crash. As she reprimands the male operatives about Numbuh 362, Numbuh 206 hijacks her E.S.C.A.P.E.R. Sector V and Numbuh 86 pursue him in the S.C.A.M.P.E.R. As they give chase, Numbuh 4 prepares to shoot him down. When Numbuh 1 notices Numbuh 206 is headed straight for the Delightful Children from Down the Lane’s Mansion, Numbuh 86 points out that Numbuh 206 has been investigating them lately. She then orders Numbuh 4 to shoot down the ship. Although they aren’t locked on yet, an impatient Numbuh 86 hits the fire button and takes out a tailpipe, which then hits the S.C.A.M.P.E.R. The team ejects and parachutes to safety, with Numbuh 86 scolding the boys exclusively on the way down.
Numbuh 86 recruits Numbuhs 3 and 5 to accompany her inside the mansion to look for Numbuh 206. She also gives Numbuhs 1, 2, and 4 the degrading task of “guarding” a dandelion. Once inside the mansion, the girls split up to cover more ground. Back outside, the boys decide that, although Numbuh 86 is their superior, they’re just as good at completing missions as she is, prompting them to disobey her so-called “order” and head for the mansion.
Inside the mansion, Numbuh 86 corners the 13-year-old fugitive and they begin to fight, with Numbuh 86 overpowering Numbuh 206. As she prepares to re-arrest him, the Delightful Children come out of their bathroom, donning bathrobes. They wondered what was going on. Numbuh 86, holding them up with her M.U.S.K.E.T., orders them to put their hands where she can see them even though the Delightful Children didn’t do anything. As they do so, Bruce (blonde Delightful) can be seen holding a jar of toenails, much to Numbuh 86’s absolute disgust. When the Delightfuls notice their collection of toenails is her potential kryptonite (weakness), they begin approaching her menacingly and evilly. Numbuh 206 sees his chance to escape and kicks the frightened operative into the Delightful Children, causing them to drop their jar of toenails, which shatters on the ground and sends hundreds of toenails all over the place, including all over the Delightful Children and Numbuh 86, who runs around panicking while the Delightful Children try to pick them up. In the confusion, Numbuh 206 runs off.
Numbuhs 3 and 5 finally arrive and see their superior cowering, almost in a fetal position, and completely covered in toenails. Downstairs, Numbuh 206 attempts to run out the front door, but Numbuhs 1, 2, and 4 kick it down and knock 206 onto his back; they see this as an opportunity to arrest him before Numbuh 86 can. The girls come downstairs and see Numbuh 206 tied up. Even though Numbuh 4 kept “the dandelion safe”, Numbuh 86 didn’t give a hoot about it. Despite getting to him first, Numbuh 86 lets the boys know it’ll be her that gets all the credit for capturing the teenage fugitive. Numbuh 5 tells her that they all worked together to capture him, males and females. Though Numbuh 86 doesn’t seem to care, and after being turned down to share the credit with the girls, flies back to Moonbase. And Numbuh 3 had to agree with what Numbuh 4 said before.
Back at Moonbase, a triumphant and confident Numbuh 86 delivers the captured fugitive to Numbuh 274 and the higher-ups. However, it’s revealed moments later that Numbuh 206, the entire time, was actually Numbuh 362, who was undercover to expose the Delightful Children’s evil plans. The episode ends with a very angry Numbuh 362 harshly scolding a confused and embarrassed Numbuh 86, giving her a taste of her own medicine.

- It is also revealed that Numbuh 274 is, at the time, Supreme Leader of the KND.
- According to Numbuh 1, as head of decommissioning, Numbuh 86 outranks even a sector's leader.
- In addition to being a spy, Numbuh 362 must hold a high rank in the Kids Next Door, as she would have been able to promote Numbuh 86 to a higher rank.
Production Notes[]
- The design of Numbuh 86 was first changed because it was too similar to an ex-girlfriend of Mr. Warburton.[1] The second and current design was said to be taken after Cartoon Network executive, Linda Simensky, who later gave her approval of the design.[2]
Series Continuity[]
- This is the first of many times that the KND goes, or talks about going, to the beach.
- Numbuhs 86 and 362 made their first appearances in this episode; this is also the only episode where 362 appears in where she isn't the Supreme Leader, as Chad ("Numbuh 274") is still the head of the KND by the time of this episode..
- This is also the first appearance of Numbuh 58 and Numbuh 59, who are recurring characters in the series.
- Numbuhs 58, 59, and the Second High Command Member also make their debuts in this episode. It is also the second time we see the other High Command Members.
- The concept of decommissioning is mentioned again in this episode, last mentioned in Operation: G.R.O.W.-U.P.. It became a major theme by the season's finale.
- This is also the second time we see the KND Moonbase.
- This is the first time a teenager escapes the Prison Transport Delta by ripping out its wires. This happens again in Operation: T.R.E.A.T.Y..
- Numbuh 86 mentions her brother, who does not appear in the series until Season 5 in Operation: D.A.D.D.Y..
Errors/Goofs[]
- Despite Numbuh 58 and 59 launching from Earth towards the Moonbase, they see the Earth behind the Moon as they are approaching it.
- The walls surrounding the Delightful Mansion are missing when the KND first approach it.
- When Numbuhs 3, 5, and 86 first get in the mansion, Numbuh 3's hand isn't on the spicer, it is floating.
- The DCFDTL exit the bathroom carrying their toenail jar in front of them, but it is suddenly held behind their backs instead.
- The blonde Delightful girl lost a slipper when Numbuh 86 was kicked into them, but is then wearing it again in the next shot.
- When Numbuh 86 is saying how Numbuh 362's going to give her a big promotion, her M.U.S.K.E.T. isn't with her.
- When Numbuh 86 puts Numbuh 206 (actually Numbuh 362) in her ship, she makes a girl sound, but when Numbuh 86 kicks her, she makes a boy sound (altho this was likely Numbuh 206 since both ran past each other in a hallway without noticing the other).
