Ad-Free has upgraded to Tumblr Premium! ✨

New Features

Ad-Free, which lets you browse Tumblr without having to see typical ads, is now a feature within Tumblr Premium.

In addition, Tumblr Premium has a bunch of new perks:

New Pricing

All prices are in US dollars.

Because Premium has far more features than the old Ad-free plan, we’ve increased the price.

When you select the monthly option, it’s $6.99 per month.

When you select the yearly option, you’ll save some money at $69.99 per year.

You can cancel any time. See the section below about Managing Your Premium Subscription for more information.

Until you cancel the subscription, it will renew automatically.

Opting Out

For existing Ad-Free subscribers, Tumblr Premium features are available immediately.

The new pricing takes effect in the next renewal after our 30 day opt-out period. So if you got our email notice about the pricing change on the 1st, and your renewal date for a monthly subscription is on the 10th of the month, then the new pricing will take effect for you on the following 10th of the month (approximately 40 days from the email notice). If you are a yearly subscriber, then your next yearly renewal date after the 30 day opt-out period will use the new pricing.

For people who have subscribed via their Apple or Google Play Store accounts, you’ll be prompted by those platforms to accept the new pricing, or you can go to those platforms to cancel early.

If you purchased your subscription via the iOS app, you’ll manage your subscription from your Apple ID. Learn more about that here.

If you purchased your subscription via the Android app, you’ll manage your subscription from your Google Play account. Learn more about that here.

Canceling Your Subscription

Your subscription will automatically renew, but you can cancel it at any time in order to prevent a renewal payment. If you do so, it will remain active until the end of your current billing period.

To cancel your Tumblr Premium subscription on web:

  1. Head to tumblr.com/settings/purchases.
  2. Click on “Tumblr Premium”.
  3. Click on “Cancel your subscription”

Updating or Deleting Your Payment Method

If you need to update your card information or delete a payment method, you can do so by clicking the “Update” button in the “Payment method” section of tumblr.com/settings/purchases:

An arrow is pointing to an Update button that appears within the Payment method section of the Ad-Free settings.

The “Update” button takes you to this page, where you can edit and delete your default payment method or add a new payment method:

A screen showing existing credit card details, a button to delete that payment method, and a field to enter a new payment method.

Does Tumblr have my credit card info? 🤔 Nope! We use Stripe as our payment processor, so we don’t have access to your credit card number, expiration, or CVC.

Promotional Content

While Tumblr Premium makes your Tumblr experience ad free, it excludes a few different types of promotional content on the platform. You’ll still have access to sponsored posts made by users as well as special features such as editorials and/or “Tumblr Takeovers.”

What exactly does that mean?

Sponsored posts made by users specifically refers to those who have arranged their own sponsorships/campaigns for content they have created. In these cases, they are not ads by Tumblr but are still technically considered ads. If you’ve ever seen someone offering to do art commissions, for example, that’s an advertisement – It’s not ours, and because it’s just a post, we can’t stop you from seeing it. This does not refer to Blazed posts. If you have Tumblr Premium, you do have the option to opt in and see Blazed posts. Check out your settings on Web. You will see the following options to choose from:

Special features such as editorials refer to the posts you would see coming from our Tumblr promotional units. These include the featured editorial posts you see as you scroll through your dashboard every now and then:

A post from the featured blog.

Tumblr Takeovers will change the look of the default Tumblr logo and may come with unique, temporary features and effects to the user experience:

A selection of four customized Tumblr logos.

You may occasionally see pop-up banner advertisements for Tumblr products or sponsored posts related to other products owned by Automattic, such as WordPress.com.
