Michelle Pfeiffer cast in Yellowstone's first present-day spinoff

The spinoff is now titled "The Madison."

The Yellowstone news keeps rolling in.

Now that the show is filming its final season, which will not feature the return of star Kevin Costner, it's preparing for its next chapter. The upcoming spinoff, which was previously titled 2024, is now called The Madison. Furthermore, Michelle Pfeiffer is on board to executive produce and star in the series.

According to a press release, the series "is a heartfelt study of grief and human connection following a New York City family in the Madison River valley of central Montana."

“Michelle Pfeiffer is a remarkable talent who imbues every role with emotional depth, authenticity and grace," Chris McCarthy, Paramount Global Co-CEO and President/CEO, Showtime & MTV Entertainment Studios, said in the release. “She is the perfect anchor to the newest chapter the Yellowstone universe, Madison, from the brilliant mind of Taylor Sheridan.”

The Madison will serve as the first present-day spinoff of the series. Previously, when it was still titled 2024, there were reports that creator Taylor Sheridan was in talks with Matthew McConaughey to star. There were also reports that the spinoff could feature some of the main Yellowstone cast, including Luke Grimes, Kelly Reilly, and Cole Hauser, among others. As of now, it's unclear whether any of the cast will move over to the new show.

What The Madison ends up looking like will likely be shaped by how Yellowstone ends. And with the series set to return for the back-half of its fifth season in November, answers aren't too far off.

Yellowstone returns on Sunday, Nov. 10 on the Paramount Network.
