Ever had one of those days when you accidentally kidnap a vampire? The characters played by Melissa Barrera, Dan Stevens, and the late Angus Cloud in the horror-comedy Abigail can relate, as you'll see by checking out the movie's just-released trailer below.
In the movie, a group of would-be criminals are set to collect a $50 million ransom if they can watch the 12-year-old ballerina daughter of a powerful underworld figure overnight at an isolated mansion. The catch? Yep, turns out the kid is a bloodsucker.
Abigail is directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, the filmmakers responsible for the last two Scream movies, Scream (2022) and this year's Scream VI.
Barrera starred in both of those films but last November was dropped from the upcoming seventh installment in the wake of a series of social media posts expressing support for the Palestinian cause and criticizing Israeli actions since the outbreak of the Israel-Hamas war. Cloud passed away last July from an accidental overdose at the age of 25.
Speaking to EW last April, Gillett said that he and Bettinelli-Olpin were "so damn excited to get to work with Melissa again." The director described Abigail as "a crime movie that gets hijacked by a monster movie. It's going to be a bloodbath."
The cast of Abigail also includes Alisha Weir, Kathryn Newton, William Catlett, and Giancarlo Esposito. The movie is released in cinemas April 19.
