Via German Low German [Term?] from Middle Low German krûke, from Old Saxon krūka, from Proto-West Germanic *krūkā, probably from the root of Krug (jug).

Cognate with Dutch kruik, English crock, Danish krukke (jar), Icelandic krukka (pot), French cruche (jug) (from Frankish).
