I became acutely aware of extremely negative portrayal of India and Hinduism in school and college textbooks, which is still continuing, essentially following the biased stereotyping of colonial writers and etic POV (the outsider's point of view). The same negative portrayal has also existed in American media, but that is now gradually improving since India has started improving economically. |

Since Wikipedia is a collaborative effort, I would like to contribute to this important effort so that a more balanced account of India, Hinduism and other Indic (Jain, Sikh, Buddhist) tradtions becomes available to the world including emic POV(as the insiders know it). Namaste. I am a Hindu American but do not belong to any particular denomination. Have interest and extensive background about India and Hinduism. Professionally I have performed document review/editing for many years.
