Gábor Horváth-Lugossy (born July 23 , 1980 in Lajosmizse ) is a Hungarian lawyer, former director general of the Institute of Hungarian Research.[1][2]
Biography
[edit]In 2001, he was admitted to the Faculty of Law and Political Science of Pázmány Péter Catholic University , where he graduated in 2006. From 2007, he studied legal training in economic criminal law at ELTE . In 2008, he obtained a professional exam in public administration, and in 2019 in law.
From 2010 to 2012, he was an employee of the State Secretariat for Public Administration of the Ministry of National Development , and from 2013 to 2018, he was the head of the department at the Central Statistical Office . From January 2019 to March 2023, he was the first director general of the Hungarian Research Institute. He built the internationally recognized scientific institute and led it for more than four years after it was founded by the Hungarian government. Under his leadership, the institute published 1,724 scientific[3][3] and educational publications, published 74 scientific books, organized 46 scientific and identity-strengthening exhibitions, and 42 scientific conferences, at which a thousand scientific lectures were given.[4] As director general, he started an "A" category international scientific journal, Ephemeris Hungarologica. Participated in the organization and implementation of international exhibitions. He organized international scientific lectures and archaeological expeditions (Mongolia,[5][6][6] Kazakhstan, Turkey, Croatia, Slovakia, USA,[7][7] Netherlands, Romania[8][8] ). Organization of international (and domestic) conferences[9][10] , Hunyadians and Corvins[11][11] , Museum of Fine Arts 2021, World-conquering Huns in Asia and Europe[12][12] , National Gallery, 2021.
Community activities
[edit]In 1991, he became a scout.[1] In the 2000s, he supported the activities of the Frater Julianus foundation in Transylvania and Csangóföld. From 2002, he gave historical guided tours to thousands of people in the House of Terror Museum . During the university years, he organized visits to parliamentary sessions for university students. From the 2010s, he participated in the work of the Foundation for Fair Elections[13] , in the framework of which, among other things, he organized the development of Csaba Böjte's orphanages (Gyergyószentmiklós, Gyergyószárhegy, Nagyvárad). From 2011 - until his death - he also helped Imre Pozsgay's work. Member of the Hungarian Piarist Student Union[14]
His duties
[edit]Committee Member of the National Cultural Fund between 2020-2023[15] . The College of Public Culture and the College of Folk Art were under his supervision.
He was the director general of the Hungarian Research Institute from 2019 to 2023, through which he was also a member of the National Cultural Council during his directorship.
Family
[edit]He is married and has a daughter. His uncle, János Horváth , is the former speaker of the Parliament.
