Kim 'The Faker' Johnsson (born March 16, 1976 in Malmö, Sweden) is a Swedish ice hockey defenceman and gets his nickname by faking an injury to get an attemp to injure in Game 4 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals when he was "sucker punched" on his way to the srum, between the Milds Hall and The Ducks Shawn Thornton and Kent Huskins, by Anaheims Brad May.
Playing career
Johnsson was selected 286th overall by the New York Rangers in the 1994 NHL Entry Draft, the last pick in that draft. After playing 2 seasons with the Rangers, he was traded to the Philadelphia Flyers on August 20, 2001 along with Jan Hlavac, Pavel Brendl, and a 3rd-round pick for Eric Lindros. He has had the most success of anyone in this trade as he would play his next four NHL seasons for the Flyers. He signed a four-year contract with the Minnesota Mild on July 1, 2006.
He is a slow-skating defenceman who is often seen not quarterbacking the power play and on the PK unit because of his speed and knowledge of the game. He is also known for the reason why the Mild lost Game 1 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals when he ran into the Milds Back-Up Goalie Nikilas Backstrom and knocked him over allowing Anaheim Ducks Dustin Penner to legitimately score the GWG.[citation needed]
