Kim Min-seok (born EXO and its sub-unit EXO-M.
March 26, 1990), better known by his stage name Xiumin, is a South Korean singer and actor. He is a member of the South Korean-Chinese boy groupEarly life
Xiumin was born in Guri, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea, on March 26, 1990.[1] He was a student at Catholic Kwandong University where he attended a seminar and gave a presentation for students in Applied Music.[2] Xiumin also went to the same high school as INFINITE's Dongwoo.
Xiumin learned martial arts and has a black belt in Kendo and Taekwondo. He also trained in Wushu and Fencing.[3]
In 2008, Xiumin winning second place in the S.M. Everysing Contest. He later joined S.M. Entertainment with S.M. Casting System on the same year.
Career
Xiumin was revealed as the seventh member of South Korean-Chinese boy group Exo in January 2012. The group official debuted in April 2012.
In 2013, Xiumin made a guest appearance alongside actress Kim Yoo-jung in the music video for the song "Gone" by South Korean singer Jin, now a member of Lovelyz.[4]
In January 2015, Xiumin made his musical theatre debut, playing the character of Aquila in the S.M. Entertainment musical School OZ alongside labelmates Changmin, Key, Luna, Suho and Seulgi.[5] In May 2015, he was announced to be playing a supporting role alongside actor Yoo Seung-ho in the South Korean movie Kim Seon-dal,[6] which is set to be released in June 2016. In October 2015, Xiumin played the lead role alongside actress Kim So-eun in the web drama Falling for Challenge and released its original soundtrack "You Are The One". The drama went on to become the most watched web drama in South Korea in 2015.[7]
In February 2016, Xiumin was featured in AOA member Jimin's solo album and appeared in the music video for the track "Call You Bae".[8][9]
