Admin Bar

The admin bar is the toolbar at the top of your screen when logged into your WordPress.com account. This guide explains the options available in the admin bar and how to make changes to it.

About the Admin Bar

The Admin Bar appears when you are logged into your WordPress.com account and visiting your site or any other WordPress.com hosted websites. The admin bar does not appear at the top of your site to other visitors (unless they are also logged into a WordPress.com account.)

The admin bar appears as a black bar at the top of the screen:

Show or Hide the Admin Bar

The admin toolbar does not appear at the top of your site when viewed by your website’s visitors.

There is no setting to completely remove the admin bar, but you can choose to show or hide the toolbar when viewing the site yourself with the following steps:

  1. Set your admin interface to WP-Admin (classic style).
  2. In WP-Admin, navigate to Users → Profile.
  3. Scroll down to the “Toolbar” setting.
  4. Tick or untick the box labeled “Show Toolbar when viewing site.”
The box is checked for "Show Toolbar when viewing site".
