Nicholas Newman

Nick Newman is the eldest son of a powerful business tycoon Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) and socialite Nikki Reed (Melody Thomas Scott). Nick grew up with his mother and a stepfather, Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman). Both Victor and Jack made an impact on his life. At the age of 10, Nick was sent to a boarding school in Switzerland and returned a teenager in 1994.

Nick started a relationship with Amy Wilson, a girl who would do anything to have him, but he fell in love with Sharon Collins, Amy's friend that was trying to take care of her sick mother. Nick decided not to pursue a relationship with Sharon because she was dating Matt Clark (Eddie Cibrian, later Rick Hearst), a bully. When Matt learned that Nick and Sharon are becoming closer, he beat up Nick, prompting Nick's father to teach him how to box.

Nikki wasn't happy with Nick's affection towards Sharon, so Nick moved in with his father. Sharon was raped by Matt, but decided to keep it quiet. Upon learning that he and Amy won't be titled as the prom king and queen, Matt told Nick that Sharon gave up a baby for adoption at the age of 16 and it shook up Nick, but he eventually learned how to deal with it. Before their wedding, Nick learned that Sharon was raped and he ended up rushing to Matt's place, only to find him shot. Nick ended up in prison after Matt claimed he was the one that shot him, but it was later proved that Amy Wilson was the one who shot Matt. Matt ran away from Genoa City, and Nick and Sharon were finally married. Sharon got pregnant and refused to abort, even though Nick wanted her to do it. The couple was worried when the doctors told them their child is in danger of dying. What they didn't know was that Sharon's friend Grace Turner (Josie Davis; later Jennifer Gareis) came to town with her boyfriend and Sharon's child Cassie (Camryn Grimes).

Grace kept Cassie's paternity a secret and plotted to take Nick away from Sharon. Nick came home drunk one day and ended up sleeping with Grace, thinking it was Sharon. Nick's marriage was almost over when he learned that Cassie is Sharon's daughter, but the couple was able to resolve their problems and move on until Sharon learned that Nick slept with Grace. During Cassie's custody battle, Nick and Sharon yet again reunited, and Nick adopted Cassie.

Matt returned to town after getting a facelift and went through a series of plots to rape Sharon. After realizing there isn't much more for him to do, Matt committed suicide and all evidence pointed out that Nick was guilty, until Tricia McNeil (Sabryn Genet) and Larry Warton (David "Shark" Fralick) testified in court and exonerated Nick. Nick and Sharon later had a son named Noah Newman. After this Nick then later reconciled with Sharon but didn't know that she slept with Diego Guittierez after thinking Nick had slept with another woman. Nick learned about the affair and immediately slept with Grace, causing another series of drama in the family.

Nick decided to give his marriage another try, but then felt the worst kind of betrayal when he saw his father kissing Sharon. Sharon left town while Nick was trying to deal with what happened. Cassie was also affected by the changes, but nobody noticed until she fell into a pond. Nick rescued Cassie and she was taken to the hospital. Sharon returned to town later the same year and after many problems reconciled with Nick. At the same time, even though Nick still didn't forgive his father, Victor decided to mentor Nick to take over Newman Enterprises one day, and Nick's sister Victoria (Heather Tom) didn't like that. Victor felt immensely betrayed by Nick when he reported him to the feds for bribery and he disowned his son.

Nick's marriage took yet another turn for the worse when Sharon's affair with Cameron Kirsten came out in the open, but Nick helped out Sharon after learning that Cameron tried to blame Sharon for the death of Frank Barritt, Cassie's biological father. Sharon got bored with life afterwards and dreamed of becoming a stripper, but Nick convinced her to come work for Newman. Victor went out of town and left Nick in charge of the company which caused another obstacle in the father-and-son relationship.

In 2005, Sharon and Nick's daughter, Cassie, at age 16, died as the result of a car accident. Cassie did not know how to drive and Daniel Romaloti was drunk and could not drive himself, but Cassie offered and she got them in an accident, and both flew feet out of the car and wreckage. Cassie died before her parents eyes, and this traumatic loss caused a huge strain on Nick and Sharon's marriage. Nick was very angry over the loss of their daughter and both Nick and Sharon did not know how to grieve together after the traumatic ordeal. Nick was very dark and not himself, and wanted to kill Daniel and held Daniel supposedly responsible for Cassie's death. Daniel was on the run with at-the-time girlfriend Lily Winters to escape Nick's wrath. Daniel was caught and arrested. Later, Daniel Romaloti was released after Nick and Sharon handed over evidence to exonerate him from charges. A few months after still unable to handle the grief of their daughter's death, in late December 2005, Nick had an affair with Phyllis Abbott (Michelle Stafford) who happened to be Daniel Romaloti's mother, during Sharon and Brad Carlton (Don Diamont) were on a business trip in NY, and grew very close, and yet Sharon rebuffed Brad's advances. Brad was set to marry Victoria and before declared his love for Sharon, and she dismissed his love. Brad ended up marrying Nick's sister Victoria (Amelia Heinle). Sharon later found out about Nick and Phyllis's affair, and confronted him on it, and asked for a divorce and legally separated from Nick, and went on a business trip for Newman Enterprises in NY and Brad showed up as he planned to because he still loved her, and they had a one night stand. Sharon received flowers that were sent to her hotel room by Nick. Sharon returned home and Sharon wanted to make the divorce official, yet Nick wanted to stay married to her. Sharon did not immediately accept him back, however tried to regain their trust, and she forgave him. Later, the two of them found out that Phyllis was pregnant, and Sharon asked Nick for a divorce, Nick and Sharon were still in love, yet Sharon proceeded to divorce, then Nick and Sharon divorced late September of 2006. I am totally surprised, and still shocked. Soap fans generally don’t like a lot of change. Sharon and Nick were this "Romeo and Juliet" story. I thought it was going to be a hard pill for fans to swallow. When they first began talking about Nick and Phyllis, I asked the writers: "Are you sure?; I’m not feeling it." But they said they liked our energy, chemistry and the shock value associated with the pairing. I went into the story very skeptical, but was immediately blown away by the level of chemistry we shared.

Phyllis was expected to give birth to her baby on Thanksgiving. However the baby was late, and she was also in a breech position. One night during an ice storm, Nick left Phyllis at the office to get her hospital bag that was at home. On his way back to his wife, he lost connection on his cell phone. While he was driving, he found out that his stepson, Daniel, was in a car accident. Scared for his stepson's life, Nick was determined not to lose him. Nick saved Daniel, and on his way to the hospital, he found out his wife was in labor. Nick desperately wanted to be present for his baby's birth. However, Phyllis had already given birth to their daughter in the elevator at Newman Enterprises, with the help of her ex-husband, Jack. Nick met his daughter for the first time at the hospital as they were wheeling in his wife. Nick was thankful to Jack for helping Phyllis during her time of need. Nick and Phyllis decided to name their daughter Summer Ann Newman, because of the coincidental fact that she was born during an ice storm, and the fact that Phyllis' maiden name is Summers.

On April 5, 2007, during an NVP photo shoot, Sharon told Drucilla Winters (her best friend) that Phyllis tried to blackmail her (Sharon) over her one night stand with Brad Carlton and during an argument between Sharon, Phyllis, and Sharon's friend, Dru (Victoria Rowell), Phyllis threatened to call Jack Abbott (whom Sharon was dating at the time) and let him know of their (Brad & Sharon's one night stand), and Sharon & Dru attempted to stop Phyllis from dialing the cell phone and they grab a hold of her hand, and Phyllis abruptly let go, and Sharon and Dru both fell off a cliff. While Dru was presumed dead, Sharon survived, at the hospital Jack came to see that she made it okay, and Nick came to comfort her through as well, and brought their son Noah to care for his mother. Weeks later, Sharon and Jack were secretly married on April 23, 2007 in Sharon's home centered in her living room with her son Noah attending the ceremony. Nick got in a plane crash and lost two years of his memory, and believed he was still married to Sharon and that Cassie was alive. Nick remembering only his love for Sharon wanted to win her back, even though Sharon was married to Jack. Nick planned a bank vault photo shoot and Nick and Sharon were locked in, and they talked and reminsced about their past, Nick kissed Sharon. Later, both Nick and Sharon returned to Newman Enterprises, and Nick wanted to be with Sharon and love her as when they were married and still together, however Sharon pushed Nick away and told him to support his wife Phyllis through her trial in court for blackmail. Nick regained his memory, and remembered his wife Phyllis and their daughter. Nick's kiss was revealed causing problems in Nick and Phyllis's marriage, and Phyllis excused the kiss. During Sharon and Jack's marriage, Jack lied to her about numerous illegal scandals that involved coporate take overs and illegal activities, including Jabot, Newman Enterprises and the Victor Diary scandal, to new a few. In 2007, Clear Springs building collasped and Nick, Sharon and Jack were trapped in the rubbled of the disaster. In December 2007, Sharon tells Jack that she is leaving him and moving out of the Abbott Mansion with Noah, because of Jack's recent lies surfacing. Sharon forgave Jack and the two later reconciled, during her marriage to Jack, Bradley Carlton still had romantic interest in being with her, Brad often insisted many times that he and Sharon were meant to be, and that she should not be with Jack. In 2008, Sharon and Jack's marriage became rocky due to Jack constantly lying. Sharon confronts Jack about this and all of the empty promises he made to her about not lying in their marriage. She then tells him that she thinks their marriage is worth fighting for (after he asks for another chance), and that she will not leave him, as she accepts who he is.

Since Phyllis left prison she and Nick have joined forces with Jack and Sharon Abbott in a magazine venture. The magazine, Restless Style, was downgraded by Victor after he fired Nick from Newman Enterprises. The latest venture was to do business with Forrester Creations but when Jack talked with Eric Forrester, who was interested until he talked with Victor, after which he turned Jack down. However after the launch Eric changed his mind and his daughter Felicia Forrester worked with Nick on Forrester's ad in Restless Style that led to a flirtation between Nick and Felicia. When Victor hired his other son Victor Adam Newman as a Newman executive, tension rose between Nick and Adam since everyone thinks that Victor is now grooming Adam to be the heir of Newman Enterprises instead of Nick. The situation has become worse now that Victor has written Victor Jr. into his will and written out both Nicholas and Victoria (Amelia Heinle) due to the slander story written in Restless Style magazine.

When Victor left for Mexico the board of Newman Enterprises first wanted to make Nick acting CEO but he turned it down given his relationship with his father instead nominating Victoria. The board overwhelmingly voted to make Victoria acting CEO much to Adam's dislike. Upon the claim that Victor died in a boat accident during a violent storm in Mexico and his will allegedly makes Adam CEO of Newman Enterprises. Adam has recently fired longtime loyal employee Neil Winters clearly for personal reasons. When Victor returned he fired Adam from Newman Enterprises and kicked him off the Newman ranch for what he did to Neil, Victoria, Nick, and Victor's dog Zapato. Nick and Victoria were thrilled to have their father back but he told them both to leave and in a public announcement he asked everyone including family and friends to leave him in peace at the main house on the Newman ranch. Nick having problems with Jack's control over Restless Style almost sold out to Jack but after talking with Sharon Victor gave Nick a line of credit covering any check Nick wrote. Nick bought out Jack thereby completely owning Restless Style and he told Victoria to take the job Neil offered her at Newman Enterprises.

In November 2008, Nick and Sharon ended up meeting in Paris while their son Noah was on a school trip visiting all of the museums and landmarks. Sharon had never been to Paris, so Nick promised Sharon to give her a tour of the city in one day. After their trip around the city, they stopped on a bridge overlooking the Eiffel Tower. Nick pulled Sharon in and the two kissed without knowing Nick's wife Phyllis was looking at them from across the waterway. Sharon stopped the kiss and told Nick she would not be the other woman in the situation. After returning to Genoa City, Nick went on with his life without telling Phyllis about the kiss. Phyllis eventually told him that she saw the two of them in Paris, but wanted to keep the marriage together for the sake of their young daughter Summer and because she felt they could still make it work. Exchanges between the two women became extremely confrontational and even more so when Nick offered Sharon her old job back at Newman Enterprises. Nick and Phyllis's marriage became very fragile when Nick found out Phyllis was sending Brad Carlton to "seduce" a vulnerable Sharon during her collapsing marriage to Jack Abbott.

In late January 2009, Sharon and Jack had a heated argument and Sharon filed for divorce, after which she went to stay at the Abbott cabin, but received a visit from Brad Carlton (who was in agreement with Phyllis to seduce Sharon to keep Sharon and Nick away from each other). The plan didn't go over well as Sharon refused to start a relationship with Brad. In early February of 2009, back in Genoa City, Nick learned Phyllis had set Sharon up via the incident with Brad. Worse news arrived when Noah was involved in an accident after falling through a frozen pond. After packing his things to move out of the Tack House and leave Phyllis for her deception, Nick headed up to the Abbott cabin to tell Sharon about Noah (who had been rescued by Brad). When Nick arrived, he found a letter Sharon wrote, admitting she still loves him. Sharon wanted to burn the letter he found, but Nick refused to allow her to burn the letter, and Nick and Sharon made love. The next day, Sharon arrived at the hospital to check on Noah, since the snowstorm did not allow for any travel the before. Jack informed her about Brad's death and how he sacrificed his life in saving her son Noah from drowning in the ice pond. Hearing the gravity of Brad's sacrifice for her son Noah, lead to her breakdown, and experienced kleptomania. Sharon and Nick call off their reconciling and he stays with his wife. In mid February 2009, Sharon had an affair with Billy Abbott, and she continued to experience kleptomania. In April of 2009, Sharon and Nick make love once again in the Abbott cabin. In May 2009, Sharon believes she is pregnant, and she took a pregnancy test and it came back positive. Nick leaves his wife Phyllis to start over with Sharon and raise the baby that might be his. On June 26, 2009 it was revealed that Nick Nicholas Newman is the father of Sharon's baby, however only Sharon knew the results and was set to tell Nick, until tragedy that lead his daughter Summer to be poisoned by Mary Jane Benson (revenging Summer's mother Phyllis for having an affair with Jack Abbott, whom Mary was romantically interested in Jack and Phyllis knew she was) landed Summer in the hospital near critical condition by peanut allergy exposure.

On June 29th, 2009, after seeing the crisis at hand for Nick and him dealing with his daughter's near death ordeal, Sharon goes to Jack and tells him that he (Jack) is Faith's father to her baby and not Nick (so Nick can concentrate on his daughter Summer who was suffering near death). A few days later, Sharon reveals to Jack during an argument that Nick is the father not him. Jack realizes why Sharon lied about paternity, but did not forgive her, and they went their separate ways. Sharon grew very stressed and experienced kleptomania. Sharon commits herself to a psychiatric ward to banish her breakdown disorder. Phyllis suspects that Nick is the father and confronts Jack who denies it for Phyllis' sake. Nick goes to visit Sharon at the psychiatric ward and overhears Sharon confess to her mom that the baby is Nick's and swears her to secrecy, later becoming trapped in the ward due to a patient's escape, Sharon explains why she held paternity from, was to help him focus on his daughter's recovery and help his family in crisis, and not stray when they needed him, and not focus on her and their baby. On September 29, 2009, Sharon goes into larbor at the psych hospital. Apart of an evil plan of Adam Wilson Nick's brother, he kidnaps her baby, and threatens the doctor who delivered the newborn to tell Sharon it is a stillborn that died at birth of malformed issues that are unexplained and that Sharon and Nick are advised not to see her, but in reality switched Sharon's baby with Ashley Abbott's baby because he caused her (Ashley Abbott) to miscarry and out of saving himself (Adam) from punishment, he found a replacement baby for her.

Down the road, Adam meets Sharon at the hospital where they have a friendly chat, and befriends her, and begins his manipulations. They began dating on October 31, 2009, after the two had became friends. The start of their friendship began to make Sharon's ex husband Nick jealous. On Halloween night, Nick, Phyllis and Summer came uninvited to Sharon's home so Summer could trick-or-treat, and Nick showed his jealousy of Sharon & Adam being friends. From the start of friendship, Adam was open about his history with Rafe (Adam's male attorney) which Adam claimed he had his signals crossed with him in confusion about how they had a random one time fling (Adam claims he is not homosexual, but straight), also Adam was open and told Sharon about the diary scandal he was in on with Jack Abbott. However, Adam has not been honest in telling her from the get-go that he is the major culprit of the kidnapping of Sharon & Nick's baby girl that they have grieved and believe is dead. On November 25, 2009, on Thanksgiving, since Sharon started to date Adam has made Nick (Sharon's ex-husband) jealous, and his jealousy of his ex wife Sharon together with Adam has been affecting Nick and Phyllis's marriage. Nick walks into Sharon's home unannounced, by accidental e-mail and catches Sharon & Adam in a compromising position in her bedroom, and Nick leaves jealous and upset. Phyllis is furious, and confronted Jack on him telling her of Adam and Sharon being in a relationship, knowing how it is affecting her husband. Sharon & Adam grew close in their dating relationship and Nick and Phyllis's marriage flounders in the process.
