The book begins with a foreword by Bob Iger and an introduction. It is split into three sections—Golden Age, Silver Age, and Modern Age—containing various artwork, posters, storyboards and photography to cover Mickey on subjects such as his first screen debut, theme park, merchandise, and video game appearances.

- Like The Walt Disney Film Archives: The Animated Movies 1921-1968, the book came in a large cardboard carry case with the book itself having a shiny cover and a red ribbon bookmark with Mickey's classic face on it.
- At the back is a picture of Walt and Mickey on top of the world with Walt's famous quote of: "I hope we never lose sight of one thing—that it was all started by a mouse."
