Up, Up, and Away

"Up, Up, and Away" is the fourteenth episode of the animated series Adventures of the Gummi Bears. It premiered on September 13, 1986, and is the first episode of the second season.

Plot[]

A new Gummi Bear, Chummi Gummi, comes to Gummi Glen in search for other Gummies.

When he finds they are not to be found in Dunwyn, he plans to go on to search for them across the ocean, in New Gumbria. At first the Glen Gummies decide to join him on his journey, but soon realize that their ancestors had stayed for a reason, and decide against abandoning their roles as caretakers of the Glen.

Though, Cubbi still wants to leave with him, if only so that he has a chance of fulfilling his dream to become a knight; a dream that seems to be achievable for his best friend Cavin, but out of reach for Cubbi, who has to stay hidden away from the humans.

But Chummi's flying ship presents another opportunity for Duke Igthorn to claim rulership over Dunwyn.

After the Gummies defeat the foe once again, Cubbi decides to stay in Gummi Glen after all, and asks of Chummi to tell the Great Gummies about the others, once he reaches their shores.

In the end of the episode, Cubbi gets knighted by Princess Calla, as Dunwyn's secret defender; a role that he assumes in a series of later episodes, as the Crimson Avenger.
